No extras.Just the patches to 4.04.

Just showing monetary support to Oleg is all.And an easier install if you ever have to reinstall.

I ordered the DVD from gogamer.com just because I liked the idea of having the entire game on one disk.

same here, easier for reinstalls of the game on newly purchased computers instead of finding all those discs again.

One of my IL2:FB disks was broken so I got it. Also got it to support 1C:M.

If all your disks are in good condition and you're confident they'll stay that way you don't need it. I bought it for the convenience and for support of 1C:Maddox. It'll be a great boon to new multiplayer community members as it means one purchase and no downloads to get up to 4.04m in one install. No (possibly confusing) patch sequence, no changing discs, no long downloads... just drop the DVD in the drive and click "Install".

if you have a DVD burner, you can also burn your actual PFm installation on a DVD (best on a DVD-RW to edit always when a new version comes out) . when you need a reinstall, just copy that DVD on your hardrive.
i personally have always the lates PFm on a portable harddrive as backup http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

We really must be a niche community. Saw the compilation in Virgin last week for 19.95, had a look today and it`s now 12.99! Absolute bargain!

But it does show, it can`t be selling like King Kong or other games (like the Sims) since they`re still quite higly priced.

I often wondered if it would have sold more copies if it carried a catchier name. Although I like the title "IL-2" etc. I guess a lot of kids might not have connected with it, IL-2 being a slightly more obscure aircraft in The States et al.
Having said that, "Pacific Fighters" is right on the button, so who knows?
I've been at this series since the original demo, and it still feels fresh. Perhaps because of the constant updates, the sheer number of aeroplanes available or because it still looks great - I don't know. Despite BoB coming along soonish, I don't feel at all ready to shelve my inexhaustable FB-AEP-PF.
I would honestly rate this as the best PC software ever to have been released and the support is matchless.
Which-ever way you look at it the DVD is an absolute bargain.
Best regards.
John.

Funny you mention the title, Pimlott. When I saw the title "IL-2", I thought it was some kind of sequal! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif Figured since I didn't see the first one, I wouldn't understand the second. Then while searching for info on CFS3, I found these two great articles on Tomshardware, and my expectations of WWII flight sims changed forever!

Still two of my favorite reviews of the series. I would gladly pay for the IL-2 collection, to support 1C:Maddox and because the series it worth at least an extra $40. I just need to figure out how I'm going to get it in Canada! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif

Anyone found any Super Force issues yet???

Troll2k

There is not supposed to be any Star Force on the dvd.

Question: I assume with the dvd install you will need the dvd in the drive?

FB + AEP + PF and up to 4.04m in one install on one DVD http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif It's a no brainer.

well worth it especially when you think about the new addons like the pe2

a simple one step reinstall from one DVD then addons versus a million cd's .. its a must have

troll2k .. without doing one of the usual workarounds you will need the DVD in the drive as a "play disk"

I got it as a back up and test installed it on my lads Pc. It went on a darn sight quicker than having to chop and change discs plus no worries about the sequence of install. For 15 from www.play.com (http://www.play.com) its daft not to get it.

I had FB+AEP+PF on one of my computers for over a year. I unistalled it and reinstalled with the DVD and all my little problems went away. I saw an increase in FPS, no more graphic glitches, no more random stutters, and no more water issues. After all those patches I guess the install just got corrupted.
