View Full Version : Ever just play the game for the love of it???

---I do have to say after browsing these forums for the last few weeks, almost everyone is whining and complaining about something. Everyone loves to point out what wrong with the game/planes/FM.
---I'm playing on comms with a bunch of guys that for the most part are new to flying sims. We aren't the best at what we do by any means, but we enjoy the game for what it is. I can't say how many times I've been laughing so hard playing with my buds, that I couldn't even talk.
---Everyone is so wound up about this game that they are killing the fun of it. Chill out!!! Worry about the real world outside your window. Enjoy the fun time.
---I invite anyone that wants to have a good time flying, to join us on comms sometime.

Ever just play the game for the love of it???

All the time bro...all the time. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
And you'll never hear me whining or complaining about this game...except for that time regarding the sh1te stains on the glass of my Hellcat. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

I had a break away from the game to finish MSc. I forgot just how awesome this game is. It€s just so good. My first trip out my Hurri€ got shot up bad and all the instruments glass was smashed out, needed dust pan and brush for sure. I don't remember that happening before. Next sortie I crash landed on runway jumped out of plane and ran into the path of a taking off spitfire. New things happen all the time in game, with the exclusion of the rolling pencil in the TB3. I agree playing on line with mates is best fun.

Would not have wasted three+ years with this babe if I did'nt love it, but Know what you mean. Some round here could win a millon & whine that it wasn't two.

Unfortunatly I've been on comms with with some other clans, and they get really touchy if you don't do things just right.

I love playing it. (I'm not bothered about how good or bad I am. I'm just having a great time.)
And there's loads I havn't got round to doing yet...
(Eager for the new patch - yes, but content with what's available)

So much to do....

I've never been on comms....

The only reason for me to play, is for the love of it!

It never get's me down!
(That's what others do, AI or them online, whatever!)

Have fun!

Same here. I'm too busy flying campaigns in FB right now to worry about patches and stuff. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Look how many hours I have on Spits_vs_109s, and I never get tired of it. I have been doing the same thing for hours on end since this sim went online.
Every now and then you get tired and have to step out, but it is always there to go back to.

I often fly this sim with no sound at all, got in the habit having to be quiet because my wife was sleeping close by. Sometimes I screw up and yell out like I am watching a good football game or something, then I know it is time for a break.
So I don't use coms. Sometimes I wish the chat bar was turned off too, the immature bickering and whining on this ruins things often.

A lot of poeple get into something like this for a competitive outlet, and this is when egos run hot and things turn to krap. If you are flying with a bunch of kool cats though, there is nothing on the chat bar but "good fight", "good shot", "nice jump" or sincere salutes. This is the sim at it's best.

I will be there having fun, S!

Well said Maverick. It's a great game. I think it's more a reflection of the talents at Maddox games that we (the community) have become so demanding and expect such quality every time a patch comes out. Just joined an online squad for the first time a few weeks ago and I've never had so much fun. Brilliant! Got to admit though, I still love flying the offline campaigns and missions. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Everytime I boot up my PC... at least one QM..... minimum. EVERYTIME.... for whatever reason.... looking for tickets? Gotta do a QM... Although to be honest 90% of the time I boot up it is specifically to fly anyway.

Ive said it before and I'll say it again. I fly aerobatics as a hobby and this is the closest to real flying you will get on a PC. Even without any more patches or add-ons my cost per hour entertainment over the past three and a half years must be running about 0.00002 cents per hour for the series.
(Not withstanding the couple of thousand to upgrade the computer and periphials of course)
No complaints from me.

Oh yesssss, everytime! I've been flying this baby for approximately 3 years now... I love to go coop with a friend on our own homemade missions, I love to make my own missions, I love to make my own skins, I love online dogfights (preferabely when there's grown-ups participating) ... so I'm happy that not all users of this forum are all about whining...
'cause its good value - all the way!!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

Course, the reason I play the game! I do, though, understand what you mean, and don't understand why they whine and just not play the game. Got Teamspeak 2 setup tonight, and spent 5 minutes laughing my @rse off at the think accents some people have, hehehe. IMO a lot of the whiners have an agenda: either trolls testing the waters for their own brand of fun or fanbois/employees of inferior simulators trying to undermine 1C's efforts because their own programmers can't compete. When the mods get on to their game, they change their name but their song remains the same.

I play because it's a compulsion. Make no mistake: I love it, but it's a compulsion. I have to play this game!

I very rarely play online. But the single player/mission builder has been enough fun to cause a large sum of money to leave my bank.
A CH-HOTAS system,CH-RPs,Trackir 3 Pro,PC upgrades...
I bought the original IL2 the day it came out,and have been hooked since.
Its not perfect, but it sure is fun.

You mentioned you havn't had much experiance but you have already made some wise choices. Finding a like minded bunch that just loves the game for the games sake and the joy of flying with some good friends.

This quote IMO really sums up well any given day in the GD

The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts.
- Bertrand Russel .

You hang around long enough and it a cinch to tell the folks who love this simm and its faults from those who post soley to show that the only thing larger than their intellect is their Ginormous egos

Hey Maverick,

Nice to hear that you're enjoying the game so much.

I'm currently looking for one or two or more guys to fly with in our own coops or online dogfights.

I have Teamspeak 2 setup.

Skill? I get my butt fried repeatedly on 'Spits vs 109s', but can get a few kills on 'UK-Dedicated'.

Saturdays and Sundays are generally free.

Cheers,

Nutcase

Wot a bril fred. Thanks and S! to OL_Maverick for starting it.

This sim is just incredible (the programming is truly awesome - I would go so far as to say this is the only reason anyone needs to buy a PC http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif - there seems no end to the combinations one can choose.

Like many here I have become wary of online play (so many egos, so much testosterone? p.s. Lurve yer Spit skin, Stonerox http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif)) it would be soooooo refreshing to find a place where we can just have fun - Jumoschwanz sums it up really well, too.

On my way over to check out http://www.outlawzsaloon.com/ right now.

Love, light, happiness and full ammo belts to ya all http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif
