View Full Version : I want to bomb stuff.

I've decided that enough is enough and I really must learn to level bomb. I have set up and familiarised myself with the bombsight on the HE111 and the B25 and done several practice runs in the QMB.

But I still can't reliably hit stuff. I presume its because I have no way to tell what my TAS is. Does anybody have any tables or anything to convert IAS to TAS at set altitudes? That would help me no end. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Cheers!

Increase your indicated airspeed by 2% per thousand feet of altitude.

example: IAS 180 kts @ 10,000 ft => TAS = 180 + 20% (2*10) = 216 kts (TAS)

Also here's a bombsight release angle chart for manual bombsight use, courtesy of Airwarfare:

The values might be a bit off and will vary with different sized bombs. Best thing to do is use a large map such as Normandy or whatever and make an airstart by using Test Runway 4 under stationary ships and adding a Home Base to it. Be sure to set difficulty to unlimited ammo. Take a few bombs and try to calibrate your bombsight to altitude (above ground) and true airspeed. Try to find which bombsight angle measures give you a precise hit at a given altitude and airspeed.

Easiest thing,for He 111 and B25.Set the alt,set roughly the same speed as you travel,aim.
Keep the aim on target with the speed settings and rudder trim.
For the TB3 I just add 30km/h extra than my gauge speed.I get the most of my bombload within target.
Simple as that. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif
