Hello all,

What type of P-47D is the P-47D 1944 in IL-2? Confused? So am i... What i mean is, we got a P-47D-10, 22, and 27. The latest P-47D we got in IL-2 should perform almost as good as the P-47 M but which type is this D version and what kind of engine (HP etc. ) is installed and what is the performance of this type? And where can i find some references of this type? Or maybe this type D is a type N? questions, questions, questions...

Thanks in advance! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Kind Regards,

At it's release Oleg referred to it as a "P-47D boosted for use of 150 octane (almost P-47M performance)." in the read me.

A little history on the topic..

Back around the time it was added to the game there were allot of folks asking Oleg to give us a true P-47M.

But..

That would have required him to make new external 3D art and new 3D cockpit art. By using the existing P47D 3D art and simply increasing the performance it was a cheap way of giving the US pilots a P47M 'like' plane. There may have also been some Northrop like legal issues that prevented him from making a śnew' true P47M, but that is just a rumor.

I know that is not the answer you were looking for, but I look at it as something between the two. Think of it as the refined field mod version of a boosted D that incorporated the things they learned from the boosted tests. That were also incorperated into the later production of the P47M itself.

Thanks for the reply Aka_Tagert.

Does this mean this type is non- historical?

To bad there isn't a 'M' version but i understand Oleg's point of view and i'am very happy with the P-47's we've got in the game. I was just curious about this type P-47. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

As in Ta-183 non-historical? No, not at all! There is alot of evidence of field mods to the P47s to increase boost pressures and such. Alot of that info was sent to Oleg back than and factored into his decision to give us this boosted D

But those two plans were so good that they would upset the blues to the point that it would have crashed Oleg's email account with whinning! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Remember those funny looking german planes with two engines but no proppelers? You know those that make that funny noise *klang, klang* after which you explode mid-air http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

WOW!

Now I knew Jerry had issues with their jet design that caused the intakes blades to come apart while in flight that cause damage..

But..

I never heard of one exploding so badly that it took out itself and another plane near by.. Let alone an allided plane on thier six! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

But Tagert, if you know so well: how many P47M flew in the ETO? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/crackwhip.gif.... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/touche.gif

Come now...4 YP-80's deployed to Europe hardly compares to 200 Meteor III's (and a few more of the original Meteor I) in active combat operations. Guns were fired in anger against V-1's and ground targets. It certainly wasn't a widespread deployment but the Meteor is definitely a WWII plane so much as the Ta-152H is a WWII plane.
