I've had AEP for 2 days now. So far I'm loving it. But there is a small problem that is starting to annoy me. In 1.22 I would always fly with wideview (Pg Down) because I like visivility. Now, it seems that in AEP the views have changed quiete a bit. When I fly with wide view I'm fine in the cockpit, but when I watch my plane from the outside (F6)(F2), I see my aircraft too far away and too small. This didn't happen in 1.22. So, now I have to hit (end) every time I see my plane from outside, and then (Pg Down) again when returning to the cockpit. It seems that the default outside wideview in AEP is placed way further from the plane than in FB. Any one here has any ideas on what I can do to solve this?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

You can customise two keys in the control panel one to increase view in steps the other to decrease in steps

I remember a few people were complaining bitterly about the outside views with AEP. One guy even said it was `Like a Toy?!` Cos it was that bad?

But since I`ve had AEP I`ve seen absolutely none of this. I`m able to go outside and view everything as normal. In fact I never even thought about it until this thread reminded me of the earlier complaints.

Yeah, I had thought of that, but I would still need to play around with the keys, which I didn't have to do in FB. Please, don't think I'm lazy. It's just that in the middle of a dogfight, would you rather press only 1 key, or 4 keys to change views? My question is:
is there anyway one can change the default distance for wideview in the IL2 config file? Or any equivalent solution? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif

I also hate that toy view in EEP.There is way,but only works in theory.You hyave to edit Your config .ini file goun in AEP directory.Look for a line called hook view and then change default len (this is the value for outside view)from 20 meters to smth closer-but-it does not work in my case : ( Let me know did it help-I m also looking for solution...

They eliminated the closer view you could select by hitting view external player plane view,bummer I know.bout the only thing you can do is mouse zoom in a little to where you like it,problem is when you change to another external player or plane view it's going to default back to the oringinal default distance.not like in the previous versions where it would stay locked and let you scroll around to other players and static camera views without changing.Sorry,maybe Oleg and crew will fix it in the next update.

Ok, guys. I'll try to modify the conf.ini file. I'll let you know how it went tomorrow. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Change FOV normal to 55 in your keymapping for your END key (default normal is the END key). Just remember to hit the key when you start a mission. No need to use conf. file.

zzoltrix, you guys must be using some kinda extra view I never touch. Way over the top to call it a toy for that IMHO.

The last thing I'd dream of doing in the middle of a dogfight is switch to an external view.

Hey Tinkerdill. I tried modifying the "Hook View" in the conf.ini, but got no results. I'm gonna try your solution tonight and let you know tomorrow how it went. Anyways, it's a relief to know that I'm not the only one with that problem. I miss the views in FB, and I'm not having fun with AEP, but I would simply like to make this game even more enjoyable. The views help me a lot, specially cause I'm a noob. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif

Hmmmm... I don't seem to have this problem??

The way I handle the View thing is with 3 buttons:
1 = Wide View
2 = Decrese FOV
3 = FOV 60

Normally I fly with Wide View. When I go "Guns" I hit the FOV 60 button. If I want a closer view in either Wide or FOV 60 I simply click the Decrease FOV until the desired view is obtained. My outside view appears to default to the equivenence of the In-Cockpit Normal view. More or less needed I do the mouse Zoom thing.

Since this thread deals with the ability to customize views -
I would LOVE to see the Toggle FOV, which toggles Wide, Normal, and Gunsight Views be customizable. I find it hard to understand why this can't be done. Obviously the guy with a 21" monitor has different needs then the guy with a 15" monitor.
OBTW good thread S!
