View Full Version : And now, suddenly, stuttering!!

Playing the game for years. Yesterday, lovely smooth game. Didn't change, add, delete or alter anything and today, stuttering. It's at regular intervals, about every five minutes or so, and last about 5 to 10 seconds. Sounds just like when a music CD gets stuck. Then it clears itself and the game goes on 'till it happens again.
Any thoughts?

You can try cleaning the CD with a high grade rubbing alcohol.
You can do a tune up on you pc and remember to delete the PREFETCH folder in the main Windows folder.
You can try using a special cleaning disc for your cd/dvd player.
If nothing works consider that cd players to get worn out.

I doubt that someone who has had this program as long as cafflier, is still using a cd/dvd to play the game http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I had the same thing when I bought 4.05. I uninstalled boonty, and put back the two 4.04 exe files. Now back to normal, but with a lovely set of Pe-2/3s. Hope this works for you.

I noticed the samething after installing 4.05, http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gif but I wiped the game, registry, and Ubi folder out of Programs. I have the DVD, so I reinstalled it which takes you to 4.04, installed 4.05 game files only. Rebooted and defraged and it runs like a Swiss watch... smooth as silk....It seems like the DVD does not induce wobbles like the patched version from 4.0 thru 4.04. Could just be my imagination too...... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

Thanks for all the replies, guys. I must confess to being the most ignorant computer person here. So, naturally, I've got some questions. Therefore, with your indulgence...
IL2-chuter:
The only things running in the background is TrackIr, (which I just got two weeks ago. Yay!!) plus TeamSpeak and HyperLobby. None of this seemed to bother it before now!
gdfo:
I'll try the cleaning thing, should have thought of that myself.
What and where is PREFETCH, where is it and why do I need to get rid of it?
Bowman_61:
I do have 4.05, but that was weeks ago. Online or off, makes no difference. Also, I can set up offline games with 16 B24s and 16 fighters with all kinds of FlaK and that doesn't alter the frequency of my problem.
Endy1:
Doubt it no longer, sir! I am, indeed, still using a CD. I didn't know I had an option!! How can I get rid of the CD?
O.K., so I can uninstall that Boonty thing? And then you put back the two what now? Put 'em where?
ComradeBadinov:
O.K., so I should buy the DVD with all the patches and then buy 4.05 again?
Yeesh! But that worked, did it?
Thanks for your patience, guys. And thatnks for all you help!!
