Contacted Xbox Support about my situation, which I am sure most of you have read or know about.

Anyway, I copied our conversation (we were using that chat thing you can use from their website) so that I could come here and post it.

Anyway, after talking to the guy for a while, we figured this is my problem:

The new discs use a new disc format and that has been an issue with some of the CD disc trays on the older consoles. I am looking to see what else I can find out for you.

My Xbox is pretty outdated.

Also, he told me this:

Thank you for your patience. That is all the trouble shooting we have at this time. However, I can not say when but there is a new update coming out very very soon and that update may have a fix for this issue. That update may take care of this issue.

So hopefully this update does indeed fix my problem.

Just thought I'd share this with you all in case you had the same problem. Not many of the AC players have it, but I have read about MW3, Skyrim etc other gamers who have similar problems.

Or it may be that you disc drive is not working properly anymore. You can try buying a replacement drive for around $20 and swapping it out. All the firmware you need is stored on the computer board inside your current drive, so just swap out the board and you can simply plug your new drive in. That, or you could try turning down the potentiometer on the drive laser to increase laser intensity.

I got an old, old Xbox from 2006. Or thereabouts.

Anyways, I never updated the console except for the NXE. I popped the disc into the tray and it updated with the new XDG3 format for the discs now.

It worked perfectly, though the graphics card on that one Xbox is kinda going and it does need to be repaired (>.> lol).

It's most likely your Disc Drive not working properly. It happens.

Now my Xbox won't even read the game at all. Damn.

I feared it was my Disc Drive, but I ain't to sure.

I was attempting to open it twice already to clean the laser lens up on my Xbox to see if that would help, but I get scared. I know that sounds dumb, but I always end up breaking something. I take my hard drive off, then my face plate, and then I am all like 'Nah, screw this'.

But I would try it.... I am just scared I will break it. Will look more into this. Turning the laser intensity up would help read my disc? Would it harm my discs as well? Besides, how would I know what to do with it? I would need something like a multimeter would I not? I might just see if I can open it and then maybe wipe down the laser lens or something... see what I can do.

But if it was my disc drive, it wouldn't read any of my discs at all correct? I don't see how it could be. TO YAHOO ANSWERS!

Has there been any update to your issue?? I just bought the disc, brought it home and it wouldn't read. Went from 'reading' to 'open tray' so I figured there was something wrong with the disc. Took it back to the store, came back home and am still having the same issue http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif I also have a very old Xbox....circa 07 or so. HELP PLEASE!!!

I've seen reports on other game forums too, like for skyrim. It's probably connected to having an old xbox360 that does not handle the new format so well.

I have an old Xbox360 elite from 2008 and havent personally had any issues whatsoever so far even though it has collected some dust.

And I should add that I havent bought and played Revelations yet because the game store wanted more than what I paid for Skyrim, so I'm going to wait until the end of December, price will probably go down by 20% by then.

Dismantle your xbox and take out the disc drive. Unscrew the cover of your disc drive to get at the component that the laser is mounted on. The mounted laser slides back n' forth, slide it so it is in contact with the small round platter where the game's disc is placed. This always used to work for me and It might work for you too, providing It's not something to do with an update you've yet to receive.

Microsoft performed a silent update to render pirated games with AP2.5 useless. Your drive is working fine and so is your disc, it's Microsofts fault why the game isn't working with their ****ty update. Also don't be surprised if your console gets banned soon even though you're playing the game legitimately, you've probably failed and AP2.5 check so Microsoft will think you're playing a pirated game. To get it to work again search google for something like "Title Update Assassins Creed Revelations"
