I know you will be able to run around in the Vatican, but did it look the same as it does now? I know St. Peters dome was being built because you can see it on the trailers but i was just wondering if the whole layout of Vatican city is/was the same

The dome of St. Peter's is unfinished, and obviously it and Castel Sant'Angelo are proportionately bigger than they should be, but it's as accurate as any other AC city [fairly].

Michelangelo painted the chapel ceiling between 1508 and 1512 so that wouldn't be there.

Unless it comes to specific landmarks, most of the cities in the AC series were made not to be accurate right down to the street, but they were made to capture, the feel, essence, and aura of the city. Perhaps they made Vatican City with the same layout considering how small it is, but it would not be unexpected if it wasn't exactly the same. First priority is gameplay, then aesthetics. What good is a bunch of giant churches if you can't free roam across them?
