Has anyone tried 4.8 yet? How good are they in regard to 4.7 and 4.9b? I can't wait untill after the job to test them myself http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/784.gif

I've not tried them but the 4.9b's work very well. Do the 4.8's have the Doom 3 optimisations in them as well?

Hello!

The 4.8 hasnt got the Doom optimizations BUT works much faster in benchmarking .. i get about 550 more points in 3dmark because 4.8 isnt much faster than 4.9 beta but framerates are more stable!
4.8 is definetly the way to go

I installed them and gone for about 1h test flight and they seem very smooth. I noticed no stuttering at all and my frame rate was stable at about 29-30fps (Vsync on @ 60Hz). At one point it got a "glitch" of 14fps and one @ 11fps. This is on 9700pro / 3G P4 / 1280x1024 / Perfect (Forest=3, Water=0, Desert map). I think Catalyst 4.8 are great http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

RAAF_Edin, have you tried PF coasties ATI optimisation guide? I have a 9700 pro and a 2.4ghz P4 and get much higher frames than 30 when theres allot of objects on screen and im running the same settings as well as FSAAX4.

I get 30fps because I use Vsync. That 30fps is the average I get as I have 17" LCD that works best at 1280x1024 and 60Hz. The max is still 60fps, but anyway more then 30 or 35fps is not neccessery as human eye can't tell the difference anyway. 30fps all the time (minimum) with all the eye candy and I'm a happy man http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Alright, to give some numbers, I just tested QMB with 8x Bf-109 attacking 8x B-17. Full difficulty settings (this also means always looking from cockpit). Oh and, the mission laster about 10min, before I got killed http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

IL-2 Setup:
- Anisotropic / S3TC
- All Extensions Enabled

9700pro Driver:
- 1280x1024 / 32bit
- 2xFSAA
- 2xAF on Quality
- HighQuality (Vsync off for testing)

IL-2:
- Perfect Mode / Forest=3 / Water=0

I get:
- min 18fps
- ave 40fps
- max 58fps

Can't wait to get my hands on X800XT http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
