Wouldn't you be happier "flying" humanitarian missions in FSX?

hehe that mid-air collision was awesome.

Raaid I thought you said you could outturn zeros?

I see you turning with a zero.. and getting shot down.

raaaid
07-22-2007, 07:42 AM
only some times im able to out turn zeros not always i need energy advantage and luck

id say that i out turn a zero 1 of 5 times and not consistently

anyway its my favourite prey, still havent been able to fly on formation with a zero but when i will it will be really rewarding,

any suggestions to improve my style?

leitmotiv has hit the jackpot!

Exactly, why are you flying an air combat sim, but not engaging in combat when there are plenty of non-combat sims around, Raaiid?

Seems to me that you really want to engage in warefare and shoot someone down, but daren`t admit it to yourself.

You`re on the way to recovery when you can actually go and shoot the other side (virtually) and not feel guilty about it. Go on, you know you want to.

And if anyone has ever been obfuscated, you know just how painful it can be.

Obfuscate. I'd like to know what people are really trying to say when that is the word chosen from a translation to English.

I've seen it in service manuals translated from French to English. In my service manuals it apparently means "to inhibit airflow".

From Google it means "to deliberately make something unclear or difficult to understand, by making use of unfamiliar terminology".

So in Raaaid's version, if I shoot down an enemy plane in a game I am "____________".

I wonder if he means being a bloodthirsty savage wreaking havoc on man and machine leads to a loss of clarity? Hm. In my experience a good IL-2 smash sets me up for the day giving me enhanced clarity for the tasks at hand. But, I am in touch with my inner wolverine...

my bad, actually what i meant is the spanish meaning of obfuscate: getting obsessed with something forgetting about the rest

this is what happens when you shoot you get target fixation

what i enjoy the most as you can see from my track is turning duels i dont enjoy shooting people down

i cant have turning duels on a civil sim

i reccomend everybody try to go without shooting, youll find out as i did its much more fun

Surely the point of combat flying is to shoot something down. The whole point is to be aggressive and offensive, not defensive intentionally.

yes you can mate, there are many nice addon aircraft that will let you dogfight without actually shooting the other guy down... some even have working tracers but they don't cause any damage to the other plane, but you will be able to see if you scored any hits.

It`s not that you can`t, it`s just that you don`t want to and would rather deny yourself, but try to make it look clever, which it ain`t. Not when someone else is trying to shoot you!

This just reminds me of the Aesop`s fable where a wolf being stupid has it`s tail cut off by a farmer and goes back to its den and tells all the other wolves to cut their tails off too cos it looked `cool`.

The other wolves weren`t so dumb to comply.

Yes, we call that r-a-c-i-n-g

so my decision of no shooting is equivalent to losing the tail

and my recomendation of no shooting for findin it more fun completes the similitude

man if you take me for stupid for no shooting you must think all pacifists are stupid

do you think bombing kids is smart?

That's right. If you like taking turns, but you don't want to blow anything up, you are right for air racing. Get FSX or air race with IL-2. Somebody just posted an air racing set-up for IL-2:

Start racing online.

C'mon guys, flying OL and not even having a loadout on is gonzo enough for some serious respect IMO http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Raaaid FTW, I say again!

TBH I seriously thought of participating w/ a Red Cross skin somewheres myself after reading about this little experiment http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif Hell, as John Gotti once said you gotta have some fun in this life of ours, eh?

Then, if talent allows, get on the opponents tail, stay there and never fire a round. Or simply put a MG round or two waaaaay out on the wingtip and break off and then land at their base.

I tested his "thesis" out in single player and became toast almost every time. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

I believe he needs to fly a nice DC-3 with red cross stickers on it to be happy? Anyone modoled a skin for that yet? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks for clearing that up Raaaid.

BTW, Since this sim has been around for so long, I could see moving on to other challenges within IL2 due to boredom. That's why I'm into the race courses at the moment.

The only thing is, you get "target fixation" while navigating the course at speed just like shooting down an opponent. All your attention has to be dead ahead otherwise you'll hit something. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif
