Hello,
after I placed an object from the selection package on the map, the Chrome Ed crashed and after I restarted the Editor, I couldn't load the map I created. It just vanished out of the open file dialog. But it's still under my documents. Why couldn't I open it again?

Well,
I found out that the nameofthemap.map file in the mydocuments folder got deleated. Now I named another map nameofthemap.map and startet the map.
But now my ground gets lost. Is there a possibility to add a new ground to the map?

Hi,
Have you lost your map bakup files(mapname_.map.bak,ba1.2.3)in map folder?
Have you check this in editor,
under tools/rendering/terrain-render must be checked to see terrain.
I had this problem with no terrain and render was disabled after crash.

When you created new map, you have lost all the backups of the old map. Also try "V" key to toggle terrain render. If this won't help this means that new generated map have its terrain in other world position.

What selection caused crash?

It was the objects_city_street01 but I just built up a new map with it and it works now.

It happened again http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif.
I nearly finished the whole terrain of my map but the .map file got deleated again. That was again after I added one of your selections. I get sick of have to build up my map again and again. It isn't the first time. I spend a lot of time at this map and now everything is down the drain.
THAT MAKES NO FUN! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

You have your .bak files (backup) and also there's an autosave option in editor options. Turn it on and it will be OK.

BTW. tell me what selection is it exactly so then we can fix it...

You saved my map http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif. Thanks a lot!
It's the city corner with the gatling on it.

Is it ok to just copy and rename the .bak file into the .map file?
And where is the difference between .bak and ba1.2.3?

Sry for beeing so angry in the last post but I really spend much time on the map.

.bak - latest backup
.ba1 - older backup
.ba2 - the oldest backup

Backups are made when map is saving so get used to press "CTRL + S" a lot http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Hi, you can also making a backup of your map manually.(copy paste on another disk or cd).
I just loosed my hard disk recently with 2 of my maps.
My external hard disk backup saves my work.
