Use something besides flashlights.

I'm serious. I was in the FMB and installed some landing lights. As soon as I take off, they stay where they were installed. So then I have two lights hovering about 4 feet off the ground.

with over 2000 posts is this guy for real ? lol

Id say you were not being serious, but incase you are, think of landing lights as what u see when approaching an airfield not what the airfield point of view would see if someone there was watching you approach.

Nutty? id say u were off your trolley..

Thanks for making me laugh anyway http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

In RL, didn't the Corsair have landing lights?

I'm trying to find something official. I've found a lot of model building web sites that all mention the Corsair landing lights. So, i'm thinking the plane did have them.

Google "F4U Corsair landing lights"

Why not just call one of the museums and ask?

Pilots Operating manual 1 March 1944
# Approach and Landing

1. Check-off List
2. Landing Light
3. Recommended Sequence
4. Flap Setting
5. Forced Landing
6. Cross-wind Landings
7. Take-off if Landing is not Completed
8. After Landing
9. Stopping
10. Before Leaving the Pilot's Compartment
11. Tieing Down.

Thats all I got!

The early Corsairs did have a retracting landing light mounted under the port outer wind panel. The landing light was deleted beginning with F4U-1 no 17930, FG-1 no 13261 and F3A-1 no 04592.
