Most campaigns should have a readme file that tell you where to stick it.

For example, let's say you downloaded my "Straight From the Farm" camapign.

1. Unzip the files to a temporary area
2. Copy the entire "Straight From the Farm" folder to the ...\Missions\Campaign\UN folder. The UN folder is for US Navy. Use other folders as dictated by the nationality of the campaign (DE for German, RU for Russian, etc.).
3. Inside the "Straight From the Farm" folder will be mis, properties and several other files. Leave them alone, they will work just fine if the campaign author did his job right.
4. Start the game and go to the proper nationality and start the campaign.
5. Post a review of the campaign or send the author a Thank You email after you have played the campaign.

The campaigns go in the following folder in your IL-2 directory:

IL-2\Missions\Campaign\country folder

Country folder corresponds to the country the campaign was designed for. For instance, if it's a US Marine campaign, it would go in the UM folder , Luftwaffe campaigns in the DE folder, RAF campaigns in the GB folder, etc. Here's the list:

de - Germany
fi - Finland
fr - France
gb - RAF
hu - Hungary
it - Italy
ja - IJA (Japanese Army)
in - IJN (Japanese Navy)
nn - None
pl - Poland
ro - Romania
sk - Slovakia
ru - USSR
us - USAAF (US Army)
un - USN (US Navy)
um - USMC (US Marines)
ra - RAAF (Australia)
rz - RNZAF (New Zealand)
rn - RN (British Royal Navy or Fleet Air Arm)
du - NL (Netherlands)

Most user made campaigns will have a readme file that explains where they go, or in some cases they use a executable file to put everything in the proper place. There are a few exceptions to that rule, though. Also, make sure that if the campaign comes with skins, they go in the PaintSchemes\Skins\proper aircraft folder.

Hope that helps.
