With the new controller system (didn't know what too call it) there will probably be very much moves... i thought it would be fun too write down all the moves we could think of!

X:

-Run up wall
-Run sideways on wall
-Kick
-Jump

O:

-Grab ledge
-Pick up items
-Grab people (From there maybe choke them)

Square:

-Chop http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Triangle:

-Eagle vision
-Translate
-First-Person-view

Does anyone have any confirmation that Altair will actually "Wall Run" like Prince of Persia?

I sure do hope that he will NOT. That would be so cheesy to bring back moves from old pop games to a fresh, new and original concept like Assassin's Creed. Not to mention the fact that wall running like PoP used to is plain darn unrealistic. Nobody could run 13 steps along a flat vertical wall..... N O B O D Y!

I would be so disappointed to see Altair wall run just like PoP does. It would suck big time in my opinion.

Eh, probably won't be wallrunning. Ubi's going big on the realism with this game, looks like. I wonder how the console controls will convert to a keyboard for the PC version?

I dont think there will be wall running in Assassins Creed, i can't really see a point of it, where would Altair need to to a wall run over a gap with razor sharp spikes at the bottom?

I'd expect Altair to do a small 2 step wall up upwards a wall to grab a ledge or somthing.

I agree on the wall run...
the move is cool.. but too much unrealistic to be in this game ( and dont bring the "this is a game so it can be unrealistic" argument please. )

you're right... it kinda would suck but i agree with the 2-3 step thing

I think a form of "wall-run" will be in, but not in PoP style. After all, free-runners DO wall-runs. Actual people do it in the sport they're basing their moves on, so why not Altair?

However, it'll probably be something like 5 steps maximum. We won't be seeing PoP-style wall-runs, but a short little wall-run, perhaps with a jump off at the end would fit.

Anyways, back on topic, here's some moves and where I think they'll be mapped (on the 360 controller, not used to the PS3)

A:

Climb up (When hanging from ledge; up on left thumbstick would have same result)
Swing from pole to pole
Get on/off horse

B:

Climb down/drop (When hanging from ledge; down on left thumbstick would have same result)
Push someone out of your way
Open door (if there's any doors to open)

On the topic of freerunning.....

My friends and I recently got into it, and after enough practice you get good, quick (not without scrapes and bruises though)

You can wallrun a few steps, if you have enough speed, and are high up enough

It doesnt really help you go faster, but if there is a big ledge dropoff by a wall that you cant jump, wallrunning does work.

Also i would kinda like to see the wall run where you do a flip off the wall

Situation: you're being chased by a gaurd into an alley, but you run up the wall, flip behind him and stab him in the back

I would like to see if anyone has any ideas on the PC controls, I know there will be lots of buttons to push for different actions. I would just like to see some ideas. So, please think of some up and post them.

Ok so bassically i think maybe two steps and then he jumps the other way, as seen on the xbox 360 demonstration

Guys it's very possible to run on walls. Maybe not for as long as the Prince of Persia but there's someone in my grade who can run along a wall for maybe 3 or 4 steps. I'm sure Altair, a master assassin, will be able to run on walls for at least 4 steps.

Besides we already know Altair can do a smalll wall run (small compared to the Prince) maybe about 4 quick steps as seen on the live-stage demo. But it is possible for a human to do that so I don't know why you guys are complaining it's not realistic...

In fact the game will be better if Altair was able to wall run for just a few steps.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

if you watched the gameplay footage, i think he did do a little backflip off the wall right after the assasination to get over the swarming guards. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

and i think the wallrun should be more of an ability to get to farther away ledge, more like an extention of the arm... if u kno what i mean. or on the occation like wallrun over a small fence or bunch of pots blocking the way in a small hallway instead of having to jump them.

I'm doing some parkour, or freerunning, in my spare time, and I would like to say, five steps is really quite realistic for a guy like Alta´r. I have seen videos of people doing a six-step wallrun(running along a wall).

The thing Alta´r did was not a wallflip(the backflip off the wall), but just running up, and jumping away from it, no tricks involved. If he did a wallflip, he would end up nearly at the same place, so that wouldn't be any use.

And about that wallrun thing, imagine that you are being chased by the guards, you see an opening to your left a little ahead of you.
Take a wallruna a bit, and jump off the wall, sending you into the opening faster than the guards.

As a Traceur(one who's performing the art of Parkour/Freerunning), i have a bit knowledge on this subject.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

on the subject of the wall run, what if theres a set of stairs going up to a door or something with a rail blocking the steps at the end *you've all seen them* and he was to wall run a few steps *4-5* and jump to a grabbable object on the opposite side to the stairs like a window or something. thats where i think it would be appropriate.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Wall runs not that unrealistic just don't let it be like 30 steps maybe 4-6 steps is fine he ran on the wall twice in the demo one to get over a ledge before he climbed up to the top of that building and again to jump over the guards head soo it's going to happen folks =P

Th3_Assass1n
12-10-2006, 01:38 PM
Retired, that's not what we call a wallrun.
A wallrun is running along a wall, then starting to run on the wall.
Did you get it?

I don't actually know what the running up the wall is called, but I got what you meant.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Wait, running on a wall then starting to run on a wall?

uhh but yea you know what i mean i dunno the terms i know what he's doing though just don't run 30 steps across town side ways XD 4-6 is good ... -_-

Th3_Assass1n
12-11-2006, 07:26 AM
Yeah, 4-6 is realistic

And BTW, you run on the ground, and on your right you have a wall. Then you jump towards the wall, and run on the wall instead. That is what a wallrun is.
I hope I explained it better this time.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

A 3 or 4 step horizontal wall run is perfectly realistic, it's just that the uses are somewhat limited

two or three steps seems a bit small for a master assassin. i myself can manage 3 (though the third is just pushing off) but bare in mind ive only been doing parkour for less than a year. for a master assassin id say 5 (and for it to actually be useful in the game they would need at least 4)

Ok, now that we've spent THE LAST 20 REPLIES agreeing that you can wall run 2-4 steps, let's move on please.

I think that you don't press a button to "swing from pole to pole" or anything. I think you just keep holding forward, or something. But I could be wrong.

Your correct, you hold down the button. All the jumps are automatic and context sensitive.

aappleyard
10-14-2007, 12:31 PM
I like the way its automatic jumping and swiinging kind of because it lets you focus more on your skills of manovering around the city and less on tapping buttons everywhere :P
You can virticle wall run but not horizontaly as that is possible but not as practical as running UP a wall. My friend free runs and he can run ALONG walls but for a very short period of time like 4 meters where you could run the same distance in less time.

Oh and

Button LB: Face back to target , drop trousers and moon them.
