Its so lovely and stable

finally got a wee online gaming session sheduled last night with my mate, tried battlefield 2 first, mate lost connection, graphics reset randomly, then my game crashed.

All this with about a ten minute level load each time.

palyed sturmo- easy connect, smooth flawless game play, no crashes, no gliches, fast loading.

ive been playing this game since early 2004, and it just struck me last night- its still totally brilliant and i play it at least once a day.

i really hope BOB is as stable and crash free. really puts other big name games like BF2, halflife and cod2 to shame.

Well, this is why Oleg takes '2 weeks' to test a patch with all the beta testers around the world. and if there are major problems, it is NOT released until fixed.

This is in far contrast to OTHER sims who just expect you the client/customer to do all the debugging for them. Something in the line of how the OTHER software company expects you to debug their OS's.

Exactly!

Battlefield got to the point where they had to release a patch to fix the previous patch.

personally i still cant believe the content we get for free

I (standing corrected here) vaguely remember Oleg having some major fights with UBI on this subject. UBI wanted the game/patch released by a certain date, and Oleg flat refused as he was not satisfied with the final product.

Go Oleg, Go..... yeah

Definitely agree ! The netcode of some ( often more recent ) games is ... regretful.

Blitzkrieg 1 was quite fun from an eye-candy pov, but multiplayer was dire !

I think the reason why IL2 has stood so well over time and still puts other sims in the shade is because it is so well programmed. It is technically sound and solid.

I've always been impressed by how scalable it is... it's possible to not only load, but enjoy the game on a pc considerably below the minimum system reqs on the box. Elegant coding or Russian pessimism, I can't think of another game I haven't had issues with. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

And the graphics rock. MS Combat Simulator should be ashamed of themselves. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

That's a very good point that some of us seem to have taken for granted, with all the discussions about FMs, DMs and the relations of certain planes to each other.

I can't remember the last time I had a CTD with IL2.

It runs absolutely rock-stable, and has been doing so since the demo.
