Some intense combat footage in this video of a Canadian infantry unit assaulting a Taliban compound in Afghanistan. Watch this YouTube video to see the "Red Devils" in action. Some salty language, so if your ears are easily offended, then be warned. Lots of bang bang action, so turn up the speakers.

Hmmmmm, i see the canadian soldiers throwing grenades into those huts.

Quite a dangerous job to go that close to the possibly present enemy.

I see a new deal between Germany and Canada coming .. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

This looks like a job for the Bunkerfaust (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOyyMwD61DU)

Are the Leopard C2's already out of country ?

I still think that a IFV is the better choice for Afghanistan and the Taliban's limited weapon availability.

The Leopards armament are simply the wrong weapons for fighting guerillias and unarmoured vehicles.

Celeon's fellow Panzergrenadiers will get the new Puma in 2009 http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/inlove.gif

That would be exactly the right thing for guarding forward outposts or offensives in the low land.

I am very pleased that the Bundeswehr did not fall into this 8x8 wheel madness like some other countries who traded armour and mobility in rough terrain with lower costs and easier air transportation. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

IFV Puma@wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puma_%28IFV%29)

But before i get too excited i need to remember that they wouldnt be allowed to make use of it in Afghanistan anyway.... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

I agree the Puma is by far the better choice but you go with what you have and buy the rest from Germany and the Dutch. Now we have Leo II's. Germany lent us 20 A6Ms and 100 A4's from the Dutch. The wheeled LAV-25 are expensive but their armor is better than the old M113's. I would have preferred a tracked LAV-25 but what can you do? We also use the South African RG-31 Nyala and are far better than the plastic Ilitus that's for sure. For the Leo I we have there already we are thinking of giving them to the local authorities to give them something more than what they have now which is next to nothing.

At least they are there securing some of the country. Spain a no show, Italy and South Korea are buggin out. The Dutch are begining to publicly question if they should be there at all or if NATO is pointless. If their 1000 pull out our 2500 will follow soon after.

Despite calls for withdrawal, Merkel wants to send even more troops now.

At the moment there are about 3200 there.

News Article (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19933193/)

Dan McNeill, commander of Nato's Isaf peacekeeping force, this week called on Germany to send up to 10,000 more soldiers to Afghanistan.

Thats nonsense. He surely demands a overall of 10,000 more soldiers from all ISAF participants together.

Journalists http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Im pledging since months to send combat troops to the south. Especially after that suicide attack its time to say "Thank you for your visit" to the Taliban.

But...nope..it doesnt look like this is going to happen.

The opposition parties would finish Merkel off in 24 hours if she would do so.

Too right!
How many members of nato are there?
And how many in Afghanistan.
Too many nato countries have opted out of what is a nato conflict.
So many of these european political leaders have no backbone!
At least here in UK the government have balls (although still incompitent)

I would like to see more German troops but it's pure fantasy to expect much more or for very long. NATO is showing just how much of a paper tiger it truly is. I think it's time to pull the plug on that old boys club. No reason to make joint military operations dependent upon membership in what has become an exclusive club that has little staying power. It's like being a member of a union that does nothing for its members, why pay dues?

Swedish AT4-CS (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7IH5nFAi16E) Confined Space portable anti-tank weapon. It uses salt water to eliminate back blast so you can fire it indoors. Imagine, you could clean the dishes, take out that huge tree stump and quiet that ****ing yappy neighbors dog all in one motion. Brilliant!

I don't mind Celeon hijacking one of my threads. At least he keeps it in the same area. There's nothing more upsetting than boarding a plane to Hawaii and some dork hijacks it to Somalia.

Yep, know it , fired it. (The normal version)

But that CS thingy doesnt work right.

I heard of soldiers getting knocked out while firing it from within a house. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/disagree.gif

Does not happen with the Panzerfaust as it uses a different version of the "Davis cannon concept", a special plastic granulate that gets blown out without causing a big pressure change in the room. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Weak back blast and no hazardous gases http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Not to hijack this thread either...

Sadly, I had heard that earlier this year, that Canada lost a female Artilleryman in Afghanistan to enemy fire.

RIP Warrior from the North.

Canadian military news (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldVtte9jK-s&mode=related&search=)

I came across another video. Its helmet camera footage of british royal marines in combat.

At about 3:00 the filming soldier gets wounded.

But he was lucky and just got hit into his rear end. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blush.gif Ouch ! I bet he couldnt sit for a few weeks.

He and his comerades have a good laugh about that in the end http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Not that I'm hungry to see a firefight again ...
