Just wondering if anyone had any idea. Haven't been paying attention lately.

And for those of you who don't speak German, they're estimating a release date of mid-late 2007.

and these estimates are made out of personall infos giving from maddox.

That's only my personal opinion, but i find it highly unlikely that BoB will come out in more than 7-8 months. After 4.02 there will be one last patch only, for which for some reason they seem to want to hurry up. If the mid 2007 estimation were justified then we would witness the unbelievably foolish behaviour by 1C to not support a game for 2 years and still expect the same people to buy their new one. Either that or there need to be more content-rich updates after 4.1, which has already been ruled out.

Btw i know that Amazon is never accurate, but never 2 years off either.
Amazon: 1 Jan 2006.

and don't forget that the really big thing, the new FM has already been beta tested by all of us http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif. Now it's a matter of fine-tuning that FM and finishing the rest of the game, with almost everyone in the team working on that, which is what Oleg told us.

Wow. Somewhere between 1/1/06 and late 07. That's some window.

I believe that mid-late 2007 is about right. Such complex and hig quality sim is to take 3-4 years to develop and test.It sound normal to me...

They will buy. I expect Olegs next generation sim to set a new standard in combat flight sims. You don't have to buy it, your loss.

Oleg has supported and updated Il-2 for 4 years and I suspect it will be supported by him or a 3rd for a couple of years to come. If it doesn't, its still had a great run, and will be still be on peoples PC's for years. Personally I hope Oleg moves on exclusively to BOB and other theaters on the new engine.

They will buy. 1939 Poland and France will be the first additions to BoB And Beyond, and Oleg said he would like someday to make Spanish Civil WAR. If so and he keeps this up, Oleg may create the first mass international interest in combat flight sims.

End 2007 sounds good to me that gives enough time to live with my current system and FB+AEP+PF is still very cool in fact it€s the best World War II flight simulator by a long way!

I hope Oleg his BOB will succeed where BOB2 Wings of Victory failed miserably!

I agree with all of you.
- IL2/AEP/PF is the best ever flight sim.
- 1C is a superb company with amazing behaviour towards the customer.
- I would have no problem if BoB comes out next century.
- BoB will sell very well.

Still, it would be rather unnatural to have the last patch in 1-2 months and then BoB come out 2 years later. Don't you think? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Two years is a long time in the software business. There is the usual push-pull of hardware advancements driving software which makes today's bleeding edge engine, yesterday's relic. What worries me most about the lofty predictions of BoB, is the long leadtime. The higher polygon counts and greater detail of BoB aircraft alone will require more time on the order of magnitudes than did the aircraft of the current FB series. The more man-years required, the higher the cost and lengthier the delivery dates. As difficult as it is to finalize and release an approved flyable airplane in this game, you can imagine how fewer and farther between they will be if they require quadruple the work.

Once upon a time Electronic Arts was on a roll with their Janes series. They foretold of plans for integrated simulations encompassing air war, land war with armored vehicles, surface vessels and submarines, all with online capability for engaging in an ongoing virtual war in all aspects. It didn't happen! Contracts ran out, the software business changed focus and a nice idea vaporized. Only 1C knows how long they can subsist in the development phase. One thing in their favor is the niche market they serve, otherwise like the highly touted and long awaited Half-Life 2 with its benchmark graphics, they could be passed by the air combat version of games like Far Cry that robbed HL2 of much of its innate glory. I shudder at the thought of what a 2 year hiatus could mean.

I'm actually not in a hurry for it. I will definately buy it. I would hope though that this sim would continue to be supported with small updates and add-ons.

Do you think Bob could me merged like PF was. That was one of the best features in PF for me 2 games as one! I really like 1Cs attitude toward there customers adding cool little features like that. Ive just been so used to EAs rush rush rush and patch later policy that it really awesome to come across a company that is actually trying to make the best game they possibily can.

It won't be. BoB is based on a new (modified) game engine, with features that are incompatible with the old content.

2 years.

2 weeks.

Coincidence? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

Two years does seem like a loooong time in between releases. Aren't 1C working on a Vietnam-era helicopter sim that may come out in the menatime, though?

1C is a publisher that has many smaller development houses. Maddox games, that makes the IL2 series, is not involved with the helicopter sim.

BoB is now expected maybe this time next year I think. Slim to negative chances that it will be merged with older products...the engine is totally new.

This is for the best. Time to throw off the shackles of the old and build a new engine.

He he, he already did that. But nevertheless I agree with you, it would be then literally international.

I dont see any other ww2 flight sims coming out that would exceed the expectations that we all have for BoB. Another company would have to pull out the Ace of Spades out of ther sleeve to get some attention in our community.

If you haven't already seen them: Spitfire cockpit video, and Bf109 cockpit screenshots that have been around for a month or so.

Yes, as far as I'm concerned, Oleg could take 3 years ( kidding ! ) - I need the lead time to gather the Holy Pounds Sterling necessary to buy a whole new rig to run it.

And then I think how cool it will be when I have the new rig, to take up IL2 with maxed out settings http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

Until ALL potential theatre addons for BoB are completed, IL2 will not die. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif
It will be interesting to see the tone/direction whines will take when BoB is out.

Don't fully understand the business model for 1C - Maddox Games as a company but given 2 years is a long time for the company to go with significant revenue...Its not as if they have loads of other products out in the marketplace...Does that imply the need for them to release some more FB/AEP/PF goodies or licence out source code mods/SDK's out to 3rd parties to generate revenue to fund development costs...
Heres hoping!
(I still feel i'm skimming the surface of the FB series - so theres no rush with BoB for me!)
