View Full Version : A plea for proper US markings. (again...)

Once again I ask that the generic US national markings be corrected. The are, by far, the most innacurate markings in the sim.

An example on P40M
http://server6.uploadit.org/files/ElAurens-USmarkings.jpg

How it should look:
http://server6.uploadit.org/files/ElAurens-USAFproper.jpg
Markings on a Spitfire Mk.Vb Trop. at USAF Museum.

The yellow ring on the roundel was for operation torch, and was not used much otherwise.

As you can plainly see, the tips of the star do not protrude beyond the diameter of the blue background like the in game version does. Also the blue is far too bright on the in game markings.

Can this please be fixed???

Its like the RAF markings. The wrong blue color, the wrong red color, the wrong markings on the underside, etc. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Although obviously the game doesn't account for all of the VVS or German marking styles either...those are at least more or less correct.

And to think I thought it was correct. Well, it should be changed then, can`t be hard to do and it shouldn`t add more time to patch. A picture (above) is provided it seems. BTW, (might be a dumb question) why did they have the yellow ring for Operation torch and not other operations?

I think the idea was to mimic the RAF roudel being used (since many of the USAAF fighters were actually Spitfires) and so as to reduce so called "blue on blue" incidents and decrease confusion the yellow ring was kept.

The UK troops were not popular with some
of the Vichy troops potentially opposing
the landings, and so were partially disguised
as US troops. ( I use to have a picture of
a British army soldier equipped with an M1
helmet for the landings, to give a US-style
sillhoutte).

oleg needs to talk to aces_high_2 and use his and mcwolfs lighting effect mats into FB. The stock mats are absolutely horrible in fb the US ones looking the worst.

Hopefully oleg will have some free time to talk to them and improve the game by adding them
