Hi Guys and Gals,

Could someone walk me through setting up fighters to escort a flight of bombers with the Full Mission Editor please? Or, perhaps, point me toward the elusive thread that does explain such things?

I can get fighters to fly along above bombers, with a whole ton of tweaking of times and waypoints, but can't figure out how to get them to fly lazy looping patrols above a bomber force, as they do in the campaign.

I've figured out how to get torpedo, dive and regular bombers to attack ships, and aircraft to take off and land from carriers, and tried the same approach with the escort function, based on what the manual says; to no avail. I'm aluding to the whole, setting of targets, ground attack waypoints, and the green line you stretch between the two.

I'm not new to the game, having had it for two years, at the least (bought IL2 when it was newish, and every expansion as it came out), but the lack of documentation in the manual is giving me problems, especially when it comes to setting up missions in the Full Mission Editor.

Thanks for the help, all.

Have you tried the Mission Builder Forum (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/ubb.x?a=frm&s=400102&f=50910533)?

It's pretty easy, Phantom - if you already have your fighters flying along with the bombers, just make sure that the fighters, at the desired waypoints, have the bombers set as their 'target' for those waypoints. They will automatically assume an escort role if you do this, and will attack any perceived threat to the bombers. As for the circling about the bombers, this happens when the fighters are flying at a higher speed than the bombers, and they circle to compensate for the difference in speed.
Hope that little explanation helps... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
