I saw one in Hannover and one in Munich. Those look like they'd be fun to drive. Do you realize the whole front opens as one door?

There are a few at Beaulieu Motor Museum, not too far from me. No reverse gear apparently, there are stories of British drivers parking them tight up to the back of their garages and being trapped for days.

Ha ha ha, first "made in Germany", then weaken the Brits with the "Trojan Messerschmitts", and finally the E.U.. Can we say Germany finally won or do we go to plan "D" and flood the British stores with Bratwurst?

Thanks jeroean-79, it's definately the BMW I can remember - referred to as 'bubble-cars' in my childhood (late 60's/early 70's) they seemed to suddenly disappear - I can't remember the last time I saw one on the road, is there a reason for this? Were they banned? Genuinely curious.

A couple of Panzerfausts strapped to the sides with an MG42 on the roof and it would be a formidable opponent in any road rage incident.

Swarms of the little buggers could cut circles around the lumbering SUV formations. At least until more of the new wonderweapon Mustangs are available. Then the roads will once again be safe for democracy!

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif That brings back memories. My dad owned one of those beautiful convertibles until 1993 - in perfect, purring condition. We were running low on work for a while, and he had to sell it for virtually nothing.

Saw the same car recently, selling for over $65,000!

I wouldn't sell it though, I'd drive it and pretend I was flying one http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Hey I have actually been in a Messerschmitt Bubble car when I was a nipper..... Heinkel did one as well incase you didn't know..

The Heinkel aircraft company from Stuttgart, Germany launched its first passenger car in 1955, the Cabin Cruiser. The small Heinkel was one of the highly successful and popular "Bubble Car" micro-cars that became all the rage in Europe during the 50's-60's.

Heinkel was sold to Dundalk Engineering and was built in England by Trojan. These later cars were sold as the Trojan 200 until 1965
