Happy they had fun, but there's nothing new in there except for how many kids Ezio has.

And he forgot to post the vids up...of any vids for that matter.

Yeah... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif

Yeah I'm a little ****ed about the total lack of any videos whatsoever but they will make it to the internet eventually. Otherwise the only significant thing here was the amount of children Ezio had. I have a feeling they talked a little about The Chain comic but he missed that part.

I really wanted a release date and subject matter for The Chain to! you know, it's times like these where even though the guy kind of made me mad by what he forgot and stuff, he's probably this extra cool guy to be friends with in real life, lol. that, and because I've got a friend just like that.

And I logged in and asked four times if armor will be removable...noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

GameSpot put up a summary of the panel with a few new tidbits of info: http://comic-con.gamespot.com/...ssins-creed-universe (http://comic-con.gamespot.com/story/6325010/growing-the-assassins-creed-universe)

An interesting thing mentioned is that The Fall is going to be collected into a trade paperback in November with a "special epilogue". I'm wondering why they still haven't officially announced The Chain, and if that might be the epilogue.

Ah, lol I was just about to post that dude! But i was reading it so much that I kind of spaced out. It's sad that we get more info from this thing over the live coverage and hell, I could listen to that trailer anytime and anywhere!

I kinda knew that it was the beginning somewhat since another magazine explained what happened afterwards, but I'm also wondering if we're going to go through kill chain exercises while in that torrent of enemies. Like the cutsene or cinematic moment will happen the second you miss the next kill in a chain, lol.

But seriously, I've been visiting the comic stores for months since I never got to actually read the second issue of the fall. I only read what happened in it and I can finally get them all together...the special epilogue will most likely set up for The Chain, like where did that splinter of the Staff go?

UbiWorkshop has officially announced The Chain now: http://www.ubiworkshop.com/post/?pid=2942. It will continue the story of Daniel Cross and Nikolaï Orelov and will have the same writer/artist team returning. The special epilogue for The Fall will help set up the new series. There's no other info, like when it will be released. Since The Fall collection with the epilogue is coming out in November, I'm betting November or December will be when it starts. I hope there's some way those of us who already have the comics can see the epilogue. Guess I can always read it in the collection at the store, if I can find it.

I'm glad they suggested watching Embers after finishing Revelations. It would seem obvious after seeing the trailer, but it would still be so tempting since it's going to be right there in the Signature Edition, staring me in the face. Things are going to be tough when Revelations finally comes out. I'll have to avoid all kinds of online info, like this board, and hold off on stuff like Embers and reading the Encyclopedia. Even playing the game will be hard, since part of me will want to rush through and part of me will want to take my time and enjoy all it has to offer. First World problems...

why not release the epilogue with the first issue of The Chain? That way people who have the other comics wont have to buy them again.

Wouldn't be so much of an epilogue then. It'd count as a prologue, but I know what you're talking about. It's like they can only have a certain amount of pages...I think.

but this does irk me. It's leaving something out that they're throwing in to, in a way, make The Chain make more sense I suppose?

I just hope that there is a way to read the extra bit, whether it is at the end of the fall or start of the chain, without having rebuy something I already have, and that cost me way more then any comic should. hahah

Lol, but onto more serious (though sad) gaming news. I swear, didn't it look like Ezio was having heart problems, and getting really tired. I know I wanted him to have one of those tragic endings, but now that I'm watching it, it almost looked like the assassin might win this fight...

Thanks for posting the link to the video, acjake. I like how Darby answered the question of Ezio and Altaïr not being related. He said there was a specific reason why they weren't, and mentioned how so many of us misremembered what Mario told Ezio in AC2. He said he talked about it with Corey May, who was the lead writer for AC2 and I believe part of the brand management team now, as in he's got a lot of say in the overall universe and story. He said even Corey asked why they were keeping that secret.

Thanks so much for the link!

It was really good to watch, it is too bad that they were not able to expand on much and that most of the questions did not address any of the main big questions. But still really good to watch and Embers looks wicked! I feel like a little kid and November is my Christmas.... I want it now!!!! hahaha

Oh well... I would have liked it if they would have expanded a bit more on the whole Ezio and Altaïr related bit. To help us understand how Ezio will view Altaïr's memories... I am guessing that the stones just act like a DVD and Ezio gets to see them, not experience them. Cause I pretty sure they made it really clear in AC1 that you have to be related to experience a persons memories...

Any way cant wait! All questions shall be answered come November http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Yes, it's like a dvd recording. TBH, say Ezio was related to Altair, how would he be watching his memories past the point of when his kids were already born?

Ezio will experience Altaïr's memories the same way Desmond uses the Animus, not just view them. They've said since Revelations was announced that Altaïr will be playable, and that the 5 seals Ezio finds will let him, Desmond and us play through different Altaïr levels in the game. They will not just be cut scenes that we watch.

They've never said you have to be related to a person in order to view their memories, it's just that the Animus lets you view the memories already stored in your own DNA. Someone has to be your ancestor in order for the Animus to decode those memories in your DNA, but apparently if they get memory data from DNA or some other source, other people can experience those memories through some different but similar device to the Animus. Project Legacy mentioned that people need to act as agents to interpret the memories, so they can't just run memory data through a machine and see a video of the memory. Project Legacy has subjects living memories of all sorts of individuals, and it's clear that the memory data exists separate from the DNA of the subjects, since everyone lives the same memories in Project Legacy.

The introduction of the seals in Revelations is a way to let them expand the memory concept and let people relive memories of people that aren't their own ancestors, and let you view memories of people after they conceived their children. The seals appear to store individual memories from someone, likely still using DNA to read the memory data to store. I say this because Altaïr doesn't find the seals until he's at least 60 years old, but they've said we'll play different memories of Altaïr from his late teens/early twenties till he's ninety years old. So the seal would probably "scan" Altaïr's DNA to find memories to record onto itself.

Question regarding this info about Ezio and Altair not being related. If that's the deal then why do Desmond, Ezio and Altair look alike?

samward
07-26-2011, 06:30 AM
So I think our main issues is that all we can do is speculate; until Ubi comes out and says concretely what is happening in relation to Ezio viewing Altaïr’s memories and not being related. Until they do, we wont know anything for sure. So While I have given what I am about to say a lot of thought… it is just that, thoughts and speculation.

Though there are a few things we know for sure. I believe they made it pretty clear at the start of the first game that you must be related in order to relive an ancestors memory. As the Animus does not function by extracting memories and then decoding them, storing them on its hard drive for anyone to access them and then relive them. It instead decodes them inside of the subject, only recoding data that the subject relives. I believe Warren Vidic refers to these living files, in any given subjects DNA, as archives. So these archives are what sends us back in time to live within the flesh and bones of our ancestors. Apart from the subject the animus can only playback recoded data; it does not have the capacity to store archives, only to read them, and with each new subject a new archive is introduced.

Thinking about it, this really does make the most sense. All of us have unique DNA and only share DNA traits with those we are related too. So the memories that my ancestor passes down to me will have the same marker, that when in the animus, will allow me to sync into their memory. But someone I am not related too, would have a different DNA marker; and because I don’t have that marker I would not be ale to sync. Cant fit a square into a round hole kinda thing. Here is the opening from AC1 where Vidic explains about the Animus. I found it rather helpful when thinking this all threw.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_etNny7zCQ
go to : 5:04 to 7:27

The other problem we have is that we don’t know anything about these stones, other then Ezio will use them to relive Altaïr's memories. This could be a new technology or this could be what is inside the animus to make it work. I cant remember where, but I think it was in AC1 or 2 that Lucy talks about the Animus being made of ancient technology. So it is a possibility, who knows.
All we know for sure is that it will be Ezio reliving Altaïr's memories and Desmond reliving Ezio’s and so by defaults he gets to relive Altaïr's. ( Inception mind trip hhaha)

It is when trying to reconcile all of the above information that a problem arises. We ask, how can Ezio, view memories of someone he is not related too, if you must be related to do so? The only way I have found to harmonize these to apposing fact it in my head, is that for Ezio is his time he simply views the memories of Altaïr like Lucy would view Desmonds memories as they record in the animus. For Ezio the memories are static and not interactive. But because Desmond is the one that unites Ezio’s and Altaïr's DNA, when he, as Ezio, uses the stones, is able to step into Altaïr's shoes in an interactive way. So Ezio is only able to watch because he does not have the right DNA markers to relive them, but Desmond gets to relive both Ezio’s and Altaïr's memories because he has the genetic markers to sync to both of them.

I don’t know if that makes sense to anyone else, but it makes sense in my head.
