HI,

Anyone can give me some locations to spot big ships like cruise liners and tankers ?
thks.

Have only been able to sink small ships like small merchant and c2 so far.

That day I came across a situation where I was getting ahead of a C3 when suddenly a T3 tanker appear from opposite direction in a parallal path with the C3. I got excited and try to sink both but I completely screw up and miss both.. haha I guess I was too greedy. Cant believe i miss out a at least 19k ton patrol. sign...

Liners and tankers typically travel in escorted convoys. A great place to find convoys is in the AM quadrant. The color map that came with the game shows you convoy routes as well. Simply locate one and wait. You'll find something.

The Dynamic Campaign dictates that juicey targets as you suggest are found more by luck than organisation.

let me continue...

You may visit the grid section as Nukem_Hicks advises for example but this does NOT guarantee you will automatically find "Big Ships" in said place.

As in real life, you as the Commander of your U-Boat have to hunt out your prey and if you are lucky...and I mean lucky...you may...just may land on a nice Carrier, Battleship or Liner.

"...set torps for salvo, 3 degrees spread angle, range 1500M and hope for the best... "

After some 30 patrols up to 1943 I havnt been lucky enough yet to find such a delight...the hunt continues!

I've found lone tankers quite often in the BE sectors. There is a few convoy paths and single/double merchant approachs in that area.

So my encounter with a lone T3 tanker was supposed to be a rare chance ? Oh how I wish I didn messed up that chance.

I will be heading to AM quadrant whenever possible. But I may not be experienced enough to deal with defenced escort yet haha.
Still like to try find some lonely big ship if possible.

Thks anyway.

Well said.

Fate it is with this sim. that's quite cool I must say. You don know what you will get every patrol.

Thks for the tips on tackling big ships.

Thks. BE sector recorded in my notepad.

Hm.. I am sure during WW2 the captains of those German sub did share among themself all those tips and experience after their patrols. And it is exactly what we are doing now with SH3.

Just once I managed to stumble upon an unescorted liner. Took two torpedoes and yes, you guessed it....I went on hunting and after two hours I experienced CTD.

The game is fantastic but at that very instance I yelled "THANK YOU SO F***KING MUCH UBI for rushing this game unfinished! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Convoys are probably your best bet.

I too have yet to see anything bigger than a T3 tanker (I did see a neutral Passenger Liner, but it was heading 24 knots away from me so I had no hope of catching it).

You'll often find one or two T2/T3s in a convoy though.

Haha, crash to desktop.

That sure is another way of killing yourself in a sub sim other than hitting the seabed. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
