View Full Version : Gennadich G1 Server.....what's going on there?

I've been out of the sim for a long time and I've missed it. Now I'm back, I thought I'd have a serious go at multiplayer (I've invariably played offline before) and I've been sampling a few of the servers and had a lot of fun.

Anyway I like Russian aircraft and the IL2 in particular and I also like realistic missions and planesets. I also read somewhere that the Gennadich G1 server was a good place to fly that kind of mission. So I registered there and tried to login.....no chance. All I got was a series of kicks and bans for what appeared to me to be mysterious reasons expressed in language I didn't understand e.g. that I was "onseat" before logging in (which was odd because I was in the map screen at the time and had just connected to the server. I've never experienced anything like this through Hyperlobby except occasional (courteous) warnings about high ping.

Now given my lack of experience of multiplayer, it's quite possible I've got the instructions on Gennadich's help page wrong
and am making some basic mistake. I posted recently in their English language tech support forum asking for help but no reply has been given yet (to be fair it wasn't long ago I posted) but I'm not too hopeful becuase mine is the first and only post in that forum and there's no mod assigned to it. I also emailed Gennadich support a few days ago, but no reply via that route yet either.

So my questions are, does anyone reading this currently fly on the G1 server and if so what is their experience of it? If so can you explain the login process to me so I can see where I'm going wrong?

Many thanks. It's great to be back with IL2.

You need to register there first.
You did that ok.

Then you get a password.

When you connect to the server, use custom channel (create it first) to type in that password.

If you don't do that -> kick.

Try one of the Ukded servers with the settings you prefer

1:- pit off, externals on, realitic missions and planesets
2:-Pit on, Externals on, realistic missions and planesets
3:Full real, realistic missions and planesets.

I recommend Ukded2 for a great midway between fun and realism. Its my favourite.

Make your chat bar bigger, make it 6 lines by draging the box bigger with mouse.

Beware of some limited numbers of planes

The command <planes will tell you what planes are limited, and how many are left. If you have a question, just ask, its a very friendly server to people who have a good attitude.

If I'm not mistaken you're talking about http://www.adwwar.com/en/

Seeing that you've been away you should read these ADW Rules (http://www.adwwar.com/en/static/rules/index.html) as you'l get those same messages until 'you obey the rules' http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif - Man! I had a frustrating time with this, but got the gist of it.

Essentially to join you need to
1) Make a squaddy of 4-8 planes - make it 4 planes unless you have lots of flying friends.
2) Assign yourself as commander (and names) with genuine email addy - the rest can be bogus email addy's
3) You'll get passwords from the server.

Now to login
In the IL2 pilots selection, make a pilot with the same name as your ADW login.
a) If your IP addy varies use IP service (http://checkip.dyndns.org/) to obtain your current IP
b) Go to the http://www.adwwar.com/en/ site and login with the your 'IL2 pilot name' and ADW supplied password.
c) The servers matches your pilot login to your IP address. Once logged into ADW website you'll see a green shaded IP section. Copy the IP addy from the Ip service in a) and hit the OK button.
d) Minimise your browser windows (do not close them) and startup IL2 multiplay with the same pilot name and ADW server

Notes:
1) It's a FULL REAL server - No Nothing but 'blood sweat and tears'.
2) If you choose the wrong plane - kicked
3) If you choose the wrong airfield - kicked
4) if you choose the wrong ammo setup - kicked
5) If you die - kicked for 8 minutes
6) If you die to many times kicked for an hour - I think.
7) You must work all pilots to get better planes, etc
8) Check the rules

Hope this helps

I gave up on ADW war a long time ago.Too much like hard work just to join the server, very strange planeset, and if you bail,99% chance of getting chutekilled.
There are much better servers.

One of the problems was that I couldn't create the custom channel to send the password. The chat window seemed to freeze. There isn't much time to get it right either: the unfriendly messages start very quickly. There were some messages from other players who could have been trying to help me but they were all in Russian which I can't read (but if anyone who was trying to help is reading this now, thank you-I should have worked harder at Russian when I was at school.) http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Also, the instructions on the G1 help page are IMHO unclear: they seem to be saying that you need to create the custom channel after you login, which doesn't make sense because it would mean broadcasting your password far and wide. Anyway that still doesn't account for the warning I got for flying without logging in when I hadn't even chosen my side yet (and of course as I had registered to fly VVS that was going to be Red).

I've had a look at the rules for ADW: interesting format for squad-based play, but no my post was about its siblings the "World in Fire" servers. There are two, G1 and G2. The G2 covers the Pacific but is nearly always empty or near-empty when I've been there. The G1 doesn't seem that well-subscribed either despite the i000s of people registered in the Gennadich forums-that surprised me).

The best pilots definatly fly in grennadich.. only prob is for someone from the us its a bit warpy but playable since they have a crazy server and bandwidth.

Quality of pilots and teamwork is amazing compaired to the top halfnoob servers on HL owned by jg27. Warclouds servers then they own the spits vs 109s and zeke vs wildcats servers now which is why we had the decline in even maps.. Dont get me wrong so many good fellas fly those servers which still make it fun.. but its like richard simmons buying goldsgym.. just aint right

dusty do you mind explaining what you mean by "owned by jg27"?
if you are infering that we physically own those servers you are wrong, but we do play alot on them.
as far as as halfnoob status there are alot of squads on these servers who can more than hold their own in any full real server(actually my preferred type}
as to owning again the hyperlobby is owned by a member of jg27,hyper aka jiri.only jiri and not the squad own it.

What Kuna said.

Write "<logon<password" into the chat window and send it to the server (drop the quotes and substite "password" w/ your password though). If you get a reply saying "Password accepted" then everything's OK and you can continue as per usual. Easy as spuds m8 http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Thanks msalama. I typed my password exactly as you said. Problem was sending it to the server. No response from the server at any time (the help page at Gennadich suggests that you get a welcome message from the server when you connect, but I didn't get that either. All I've had from the server is warnings: high ping (fair enough if true) and also that I was "onseat" before logging in (not fair in fact incomprehensible), followed (far too quickly to be fair for my liking) by "I'm too tired of warning you COURT MARTIAL" (kicked and banned for 4 hours). I'm not saying I haven't made errors logging in, but it just seems so user-unfriendly compared with Hyperlobby. I am trying to follow the instructions on the help page as closely as I can, but the system doesn't seem to work the way it's depicted there.

Dusty, I don't know who you are. I don't know who Osiris or Knight are, as you mention to Aristo in a PM on Hyperlobby. I did not purchase Warclouds or Spit vs. 109s, or Zekes vs. Wildcats, or any server for that matter. Those that know me well know that I am actually struggling right now. If you would like to look up the post I just made telling people I am selling my TrackIR's, please do.

I don't know where you got your information, but it is dead wrong. JG27 flies in the servers you mentions, and a couple members are moderators in one of them. But we do not own any server other than JG27Dedicated, which we use for occasional testing.
