I know this happens to merchants sometimes.. But this happened to a J- Class destroyer when

it was hit by an acoustic torpedo somewhere NNW of Narvik http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Did it suffer a meltdown of a nuclear reactor or detonation of it's experimental nuclear depth charge? I'm sure there is no magnesium on

board that presumably causes the merchants to light up like this

Are you sure you haven't modded your game so that the ships carry huge loads of High explosives, i've never seen explosions like the ones your experienceing. Kinda hollywood like.

No, no mods for me. By the way, if you play long enough, you can see one in maybe 50 merchants blow up like that. It's very rare, but fun to watch. Also someone once said it only happens on clear days..

Things like that also happen when the ship´s cook came up with lots of mexican beans for lunch.

Then a few hours later someone has just to light a cigarette......... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

Nah, i think Celeon is right. its probably the beans. after a couple hours, the methane concentration would surely surpass the ignition border http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
