Flying Bf109F-4 against Spitfire Mk.VB (AI), I am not able to shoot Spit down http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif.

My tactics: flying head on head in the same altitude, just before passing turn slightly left or down and immediately after passing ascending steeply and possibly do looping and booming on Spit which is horizontally turning left.
Trying continually approaching Spit in a semi vertical level circles - simply trying to use the bigger power of Daimler Benz engine of Franz.

In WB2 this worked well but In Il2FB+AEP I cannot achieve my goal. Spit is very quickly on my 6 even in vertical manouvers and I cannot shake it off neither in a steep diving (Spit is very quickly after my tail again) nor in a long mild ascending (in order to gain distance and altitude to be able to boom Spit again). Spit is still on my back. That seems so me like it is Spit IX instead Spit V http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif...

But when I flew Spit V, I shot down Bf109F in a first combat. It was piece of cake because Bf109F (AI) flew mainly in a horizontal level http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

note: I have always difficulty level set to Veteran.

I am possibly doing something inadequately while flying Bf109F.. Would someone from experienced pilots help me to explaing this?

here are two my unsuccessful combat tracks:

Do yourself a favor and do not turn fight in a 109. It is far more advantageous to simply engage with altitude advantage and use boom and zooming tactics exclusively and disengage when you have lost your energy advantage or after you've dispatched your opponent. Also, be advised that AI flight models are overmodelled and they can do things that a Human pilot cannot do.

Mk.V AI is the nightmare - but online even worse. They need just point their nasty nose on you and keep it there, not minding their speed, angle of attack, radiator position, stick deflection or whatever, just keep it and open the fire from 1km, easily decomposing anything in visibility range. If you start with higher E, they just raise nose up and wait until you lost your E and stop in midair and shoot you down. If they start losing E, they do a sharp turn by which they regain the lost E and can continue in their steep climb, until they slow down too much and need to do the sharp turn again.. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Take Fw on them instead. 109 is too fragile, peashooter and the speed difference is not so big, and worse, the myth about 109s climb superiority will lure you into climbing turns and such unwise maneuvers in which you will be easily followed by them and shot down.

When you fly one on one in QMB, first speed up max. and try to go head on your opp. But intead of head-on, bank a little to the left or right (to avoid being shot), and when you are on 1-1,5k away from boogie get some alt (as much as you can).

After that, things should be easier; in the moment you buzzed by each other (try to not get shot) your a/c must have significant alt advantage (when you reach meeting point put your nose ful up - get alt as much as you can) -- Spit will try to get on ur six, but he lacks airspeed therefore he must quit. Simply BnZ him till you shot him down. Other scenario is that he continue to fly forward in which case you also have alt advantage simply follow and BnZ.

This tactic BTW, works very well in most cases vs. ACE AI fighters.
