It has to be a Ki-46.

That picture is from the National Air & Space Museum because that B-29 is the "Enola Gay" which I know is there.

Here is a list off all the aircraft on display at NASM ---> http://www.nasm.si.edu/getinvolved/ocp/N.HTM

"Kawasaki Ki-46 Toryu Nick" is listed, so this must be the plane.

The Ki-46 and J1N1-2 are both on the list... it has to be one or the other. :-)

Your probably right.

Been there. Saw it. The Ki-45 Nick at Udvar-Hazy was an incomplete fuselage. The aircraft pictured is a Gekko/Irving, an IJN twin used as a fast recon, nightfighter, and medium attack type in the latter stages of the Pacific war.

cheers

...that one hanging vertically looks like a Extra 300 or something along those lines.

That float looks like it belongs to an Aichi Seiran from one of the I-400 subs

Its the J1N1-S Gekko night fighter at NASM. The Ki-45 Toryu is next to it. And that float does belong to an Aichi M6A Seiran.
