The first thing that might help you is this:
did you get the multi-language version with the russian/english/german interface. If not, try this link http://www.sh.zp.ua/il2/il2_newview.zip

After following the steps in the 'Readme' file, could you post back with specific problems.

I got the mulit-lingual version. Specific probs? uhhh...I find the instuctions mind numbing. I start reading them & after a bit my eyes glaze over & all of it turns into mush.

All I want to be able to do is to pan w/o the stops.

Open your FB conf.ini

Do a "find" for "trackir"

Change the line "TrackIRUse=0" to "1"

Load NewView.

Tell NewView which joystick you want to use.

Exit NewView and save settings on exit.

Load FB.

Go to FB's controls page, and un-bind any controls you have bound to your joysticks POV hat - both 'pan' and 'snap' views should be taken out of the list. The easy way to do this is to just move down the list of snap/pan views, assigning the same key to each direction as you go along, then when you get to the last one in the list, assign it to a key you'll never use.

NewView should now be set to make your POV hat move the view around in nice, fine little steps.

sorry, i can't do a step-by-step better than the whoever did the readme file. Can you say how far you got before you decided it was too difficult? What step is it that you don't understand?
(don't say 'number one', lol!)

do you have teamspeak? Maybe you could join my squads server and i can talk you through it. I can email you the server details.

Don't give up with newview. it's the best program i downloaded for FB. I even bought another joystick to use its capabilities; I use my second joystick to look around instead of a hatswitch... very intuative. and with all the extra buttons, i hardly ever need to touch the keyboard.

Ah hah! So I wasn't being stupid! Its some kind of glitch. Let me explain. Whenever I activate TrackIR(TrackIRUse=1)IL2FB wont load....but if I deactivate TrackIR(TrackIRUse=0) it does load.

Now what?

One thing I left out - make sure to click "add DLL to registry" in Newview.

If it still doesn't work then I have no idea why not.

There's a nice help file written by jetstream100 for NewView here: http://users.bigpond.net.au/gwen/fb/english.hlp

There's also a guide to NewView I wrote for an earlier version over at mudmovers.com, which I can't find coz it's not resolving at the moment.
