View Full Version : I am starting to believe that timeout caused by new anticheat mesures

I could be wrong.. But i got timedout twice...from my own server... with 1ms ping http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif It doesn`t happen every 2-3 minutes like with some users... but happened twice in 2 hours. I don`t use Hyperlobby to connect, connecting localy, via IP.

I looked at the console output...and it was standard timeout message... that i`v seen before on dedicated server after client speed check some users were getting quietly removed from the server http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/10.gif

My server settings:

[NET]
speed=25000
routeChannels=0
serverChannels=21
localPort=21000

checkTimeSpeedDifferense=0.10
checkTimeSpeedInterval=10

[MaxLag]
farMaxLagTime=3.0
nearMaxLagTime=1.5
cheaterWarningDelay=3.0
cheaterWarningNum=2

Those are resonable settings... and in over two years i was never timed out lol.
I am not saying that there is concrete evidence of anything... i can`t prove it... just something i was looking at.

My client settings...default pretty much...

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

I am sure that teh defaults are no longer any good.

I hope very much that Oleg will post more info on this and maybe sample settings.

Have you tried opening up the settings any? Perhaps what was wide is now narrow?

Somehow curious when the cheating detection is right over 70 % are potential cheaters. Saw it even for 10 ms connections. Some did rejoin and complained that once they entered a turn its over .) (and that with Server/Client checks off). Cheating is harder than ever but Gaming itself is maybe not as easy as it was before.

I need following info:

1. Configuartion of your PCs info. Both server and client. Full info about hardware and OS.
2. Conf.ini of server and client (with the settings when its happens)

2 out of 3 of us on comms last night would randomly timeout

Unplayable until fixed, it was too frustrating and a coop would be undoable right now.

I strongly suspect this to be the case too.

After the introduction of the anti-cheat I found myself being timed-out from servers I previously used without problem, and on the Italian forum I heard of others who experienced the same inconvenience.

I attributed the fact to possible variations in ping due to my bad connection (I use a 56k modem), but I was nevertheless surprised by the fact that I could barely take off in rooms where I had previously spent many happy hours dogfighting.

I have not done much flying online lately, but reducing the graphic settings on my PC seemed to help, at least partially.

Not sure how it's related but after 2 days of constant time-outs I cured mine by with sound settings. I know several others it's been the fix for also.

Yes wood, it is related i think... what makes it worse...it`s rather individual for each PC lol... Works for some... doesn`t work for other. I think it`s a combination of Host vs Client... Anticheat features vs Clients hardware... But those are my opinions and i don`t have a solid solution or prove of it... and on the top of all things... i`m stuck at work http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

It definitely seems to be a pure client-side problem.

I've got that timeout problem too, and I tried connecting to 5 different servers yesterday.
Everytime with the same result: timeout after about 10 secs in-game.

I can host online games, and everything runs quite well, even if the pings go through the roof, no timeouts, no disconnects, only small stutters and VERY short freezes now and then.

rgr Ivan, it seems to be an individual system problem. JReb and I did a lot of testing with different server and client settings before we hit on the sound. I was able to get by with just disabling audio enhancements and hardware acceleration while one of my mateshas to fly with no sound at all to be able stay in a server.
I haven't noticed it to be a server problem as I can now fly in all I've tried where before I couldn't stay in any for more than a couple of minutes. One other point...during Reb's and my testing I had no problem hosting for long periods of time.

I run a low to mid-range system:

768RDRam
Gf4 Ti4600
Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound

Rgrt wood, i think this issue does not have effect on HOSTS, only clients. Maybe hosts security settings tho... to verify that i have to get home... 3 hours to go...dang

Recon tried it Hunter..he`s been on this issue all day with his squadmates. No go http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif constant timeouts. So far the only option that works 100% is disabling sound...doesn`t work for all either. Bah

I'm using the default AEP one. I'm also not experiencing time outs either so far. I did however do a clean install of FB boxed then AEP over it because when I did a test upgrade even changing the bldconfig the game was unstable on my machine. Clean install and all was/is good here so far. I've only played online for about an hour so I could still get the TO but have not so far.

I did complete reinstall too B man... had to. Couldn`t even install AEP lol, cause all my stuff moved around and nothing is in default directories. I don`t get timeouts either... only twice last night ... but that aint bad comparing to others. One of them was caused by ALT TAB... other just happened.

Will see how COOPs will go tonight.

Probably not at all related, but I'll throw it out there anyway: I was flying last night, and am still using v1.22 and got an odd disconnect from a server (FI:SnoopBaron's I believe). Was similar to a timeout, except I just lost connection and didn't get 'thrown back' to HL.

Again, this is not abnormal and probably not at all related to AEP, but there it is anyway. Maybe a general internet problem going down causeing gremlins everywhere?

extremely unlikely.. as others could just switch to 1.22 and stay on all night... it definately is something with the code in AEP.

I was hosting tonight and no one had any problems at all on my passworded server (it was a practice night in RAF74) except one guy.

He could get to the map screen and pick and airbase, but would timeout every time.

I don't know if this info will be helpful or not. But I installed AEP over 1.22 . I have played on several different servers since, including "VFC". Not once have I experienced a timeout on any of them. Seem as though my frame rates are more constant and not up and down like they used to be. I would be glad to post my diag for information if you think there is any info in there you might need to use maybe as a check or something. If so, let me know. I hate that some of you are having difficulties. S!
