To all,

I am new to these Forums but have been playing IL-2 for a while.

I recently downloaded some campaigns from www.mission4today.com (http://www.mission4today.com)

It was recommended for one of them that I turn off the "No Instant Success" option so that if for whatever reason either the primary mission objectives or the secondary mission objectives were not completed, then at least I could pass on to the next sortie without being held back.

After 9 sorties (of a 22 sortie campaign) I have 4 air kills, I have been lucky not to have lost an aircraft, but I have been awarded no medals?

I have flown other campaigns before, both the ones offered in game and ones graciously created / donated by others, and it seems to me that I was able to earn a medal by this time.

The only thing I have done differently this time is turning off the "No Instant Success" option.

Could this be the cause or am I just worse than I care to admit http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/1072.gif

Thank you.

Switching `no Instant mission success` to OFF should not affect the medals you get. All it does is allow you to progress as long as you don`t die. It`s actally more realistic.

Medals are usually allocated on how well you do and your length of service.

Uhhhh....I don't think you get medals in pre-scripted offline campaigns, since they are static. Although I could be wrong. I know you get them in the dynamic campaigns, either the built in Dgen ones or the third party types, like Paul Lowengrin's whatever he calls it.

Can you get awarded medals in static campaigns??
Anyone know more than me on the subject??

Awards and medals are allocated in scripted, user made campaigns, just like dynamic ones. You can also get promoted in scripted campaigns, just like dynamic ones. Medals are points based, as are promotions

Here's a shot from when my last campaign was WIP, showing the custom medals I made for the scripted offline campaign:

"no instant success" is best left off, as noted. It's not really realistic that a pilot must accomplish his mission goals. Often times, a mission was a failure. Personally I think having the option to fail is more realistic http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

As for your medals, you simply haven't gotten enough points in a mission yet. Accomplishing mission goals, air to air kills, and air to ground kills all count towards mission point totals. You need to have more success per sortie to expect a medal. Your promotions are cumulative totals, however. So if you get 100 points per mission, you may eventually get promoted if the campaign is long enough, but you won't see a medal, most likely. But the mission/campaign builder cannot decide when the player is due for awards or promotion. he or she can, however, set many, or few mission goals in any given mission, thus increasing or decreasing the player's chances to earn a medal

Just out of curiosity, what campaign are you playing?

I know promotions are around 2000 points cumulative, not sure about medals. If you play a mission with a lot of goals you can rack up a great score, sometimes without having a ton of kills, though that obviously helps as well.
