My fault if im asking this in the wrong part of the forums but since im new to Game, u can cut me some slack. After school i went to gamestop and picked up call of duty 2 for my pc, then my eye caught a bright blue box with a game called il2 sturmovik, Pacific fighters and lock on. So i purchased both. I decided to install just pacific fighters. Im new to Flight sim games, so what do i need to make this game better?

HI mate and welocome to the forums.

Practice with the planes you have for a bit and when you get chance buy the new realse which contains every Il2/Forgotten Battles game and addon and patch to make you totally up to date with 300+ flyable planes.

It just came out and its called Sturmovik 1946.

Once you have that get online with us and fly!

You will need to download hyperlobby to browse the online servers once you have the full game+addons (Sturmovik 1946).

There are thousands of skins, addons, missions etc for the complete merged install (1946).

Welcome to your new addiction http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Oh and you need a joystick http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

No, he got the 'North American consolation prize' version of Complete Edition, a misnomered triple pack titled Ultimate Flight Collection. As he said, it contains Pacific Fighters, the original IL-2 Sturmovik, and the original version of LOCK-ON.

ace_eagle15,
Consider getting the IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946 DVD if you decide that you like Pacific Fighters. The DVD contains the two installments that preceded Pacific Fighters and the the three expansions released after PF. The IL-2 Sturmovik is an early version of the Forgotten Battles game that the current series is built on ... but you can't merge the IL-2 Sturmovik game with Pacific Fighters. Blah blah blah, lots of explaining goes here, but the point is that you should get the 1946 DVD if you want lots more airplanes and maps.

Anyhow, for now:
1. Patch your Pacific Fighters install up to version 4.04. You can find the patches and a guide here: http://www.airwarfare.com/guides/patching.htm
Be careful to download the correct patch numbers; also, you'll need to do all of the increments (3.03, 4.01, 4.02, 4.03, 4.04) in order ... don't skip any.
2. Get a good joystick, preferably one with rudder control and a throttle. A HAT switch is important also. If you have these features, take a look at my keyboard settings in my signature -- it's a good start for mapping many important but undefined features, like 'chocks' and 'tailhook.'
3. Read the FAQ at Airwarfare.

Okay, that's all I have time to post ... dinner has just been announced. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif Good luck and happy flying!<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Unfortunatly if your in the USA and you bought the retail "Ultimate Flight Collection" your kind of behind the times. But don't dispair, the most up to date version of the Il-2 package including everything everr made is available for online purchase at GoGamer.com. In the meantime, learn to fly in Pacific Fighters, just pick one plane and learn it like the back of your hand. It will be hard, you will crash, you will be shot down, but if you take your time and are willing to put some effort into the sim, you will never be satisfied with a first person shooter again...

Don't be afraid to ask questions, this is a good place to do that.

I just got back from Bestbuy with a brand new logitech 3d pro joystick. Only 30 Dollars. I set it up and made my first unsuccesfull landing on a carrier. I patched up the game till 4.04 and i love the new seafire, but how do i get the real spitfire.

I purchased il2 compete collection and will be getting it on the 24 of december. Is there a manual that i can read to learn the proper way of taking of a carrier?

Also about over 300 planes for the game, is that a joke people use or is it true?

Also how do i get the pe-2, does it come with the Il2 complete collection i ordered or is it a seperate buy?

And yes, there are over 300 aircraft, 229 of them are player flayable, with fully detailed unique cockpits for every one. That is no joke.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

The complete collection is an older set of the original three games and patches up to 4.04 on one disk. (This stuff is awfully confusing,I know but stay with me) If you can, cancell that order and get "IL2 sturmovik 1946", that will bring you fully up to date (the DVD contains everything you need, and yes over 300 planes 230 or so flyable) . If you can't don't despair you can buy PE2 and 1946 online as addons, it'll just end up costing you more money. (and who wants to spend more money?)<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

ive been looking around and found out that u can download the pe-2 addon from boontybox. I will do that then download the rest of the addons. But since i cant get the pe-2 till i have the complete edition, ill just practice flying the ki-43 untill i get my game. Ill be waiting for a downladble version of the SOM and 46 addon, and if they arent avaliable for download ill just buy 46 online.

Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a convert!

As to your question about getting it by Christmas, I'd say "maybeeee..., but I wouldn't bet on it" But that's OK. You'll still probably get it sooner and for less money than if you waited to download, and you can use that time practicing.

If you've seen Kill Bill Volume 1, this is the part where the Bride hangs out in Hatori Honzo's attic working on her skills while waiting for the finest sword ever made by a man.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Just FYI... I see that you bought a Logitech /d pro... if you find your plane very unstable... it could be that you have a faulty stick... return it and get a Seitek Evo... they are a LOT better... and don't cost more....

When you get to be an addic like most of us... go for a Seitek X-52 HOTAS (Hand On Throttle And Stick) setup... you won't regret it...<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
