View Full Version : Deflection shooting and high ping

I was used to hit the planes I was shooting at :-) but rescently on public servers I don´t seem to hit at all with my deflections shots. Lets say the players and myself has 150-200 latency, should I add that to the deflection? Do you need to have a different shot at different pings?

During my time online (about two years, but before PF was released) I could nicely make deflection shots with my ping around 280 or so on my dialup. If nothing has changed it should still be possible. I believe this game has client side hit detection, so there is no need to account for latency in leading a shot.

I've recently read in these forums that since PF was released, server player counts are up, and that's only going to make things worse for high ping players.

I think the short answer is no, so long as the guy you are shooting at has a stable connection (no warping) then you should aim normally. Any hits you score may result in a delayed reaction on his end because of lag but so long as no packets are dropped your enemy will register the damage in a normal way

Massive lag can be very frustrating in that the enemy can appear to be aiming away from you or even be flying in front of you and still get hits, I have seen this many times usually when the host overloads his connection or has to slow a pc and cant process information fast enough. In one server I was in a plane that was flying in the opposite direction to myself and at least 500m to my right was hitting me. After 2-3 deaths like that I left the server but I should add I did not see any warping.

Lag issues are irritating though. Fly for 10 min, position for a shot, suddenly the enemy are ufoing around http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif Be when HE is lining up for a shot, the ufobuisiness is over...

deflection shooting is fun... yes

online DF when I shooted opponent with mk108 at 50meter but I feel delay time about .5 second to response me a visual damage on my client showing his wing break away

in HL my client ping is bad about 390-420ms ( 56k ) http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif and if my opponent driving from my 2 o'clock with speed about 400km/h and his ping just 250ms and that time internet traffic is bad but not too bad. ok if I like to shoot him with 60 degree deflection shooting cut (snapshot) his flight path at range 150 meter ( he flying direct line ) with my MK108 and my plane's speed is 450km/h ....So

what range I have to line my gunsight from his nose to deflection point at his flight path ?
