Playing PF offline as the Japanese side flying D3A Vals. On missions start, if plane 2 in first flight starts his engine before Flight Leader, he takes off before plane 1 (Flight Leader), then watch as he will then do a Loop to get back behind leader, and crashes into sea. Press ESC and try again until you see Plane 1 actually Start engine before Plane 2, then he will take off first, repeat as necessary.
Then it got better as a Zero pilot. Had to do an escort of torpedo planes, and noticed similar stupid behaviour, as the Torpedo planes to be escorted overfly the carrier, while the Zeros are starting up, 2 will nearly always crash into each other, sometimes taking out their flight leaders, with the result that sometimes you can't finish mission as they fly off into sunset. Repeat as in D3As (above) start till all torpedo planes overfly without crashing, thus you're able to do mission, BUT, then Plane 2 of Zero flight 1 takes off first, and guess what? Yep, LOOP TIME....... AAAARRRGGGHHHH. Call this AI? This must be what they mean by a games replayability factor.

Open the ground controller tab of your radio menu, and "request takeoff clearance".

You misunderstand me, I can take off etc, but you can't do the missions correctly, and this happens a lot of the time, has anyone else noticed some weird behaviour like this.

I'm deep into several Japanese campaigns and I have never seen this.

The flights always start up and take off in the correct order.

Not to say that it can't or doesn't happen. I have seen some weird things in almost every sim I ever played.
