Will these be flyable?

Dont take my words for it. But AFAIK, the Shiden's and Raiden's cockpit are complete (or nearly completion). As for the Shiden Kai, I recall seeing some WIP at SimHQ forum, and if Im not mistaken, also its cockpit in progress. About when they're available, nobody can tell.

Maybe in the paid addon in the future.

J2M3 cockpit we've seen in a nearly completed state. We've heard that the N1K-1J (Shiden) is not going to work out but that the N1K-2J (Shiden Kai) should...

Maybe we can have more of the Japanese mainland to fly them over? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

A map of Tokyo would be fantastic, but I reckon there are other maps which are more needed, such as someting with Rabaul on it, or a CBI map, etc.

But I would sooo love to have even one of these fighters available as flyable.

I've wished to fly a N1K1-J in pacific fighters for quite some time. Its not my most favorite plane which would be the Tempest but every time I see a N1K1-J in the game I've just fascinated by it. It has great lines, menacing armormant configuration and that prop animation is the best I've seen in game you can really see a difference in power settings just looking at it change.

The last time I flew a Shiden or Shiden-Kai was Microsoft Combat flight Simulator 2. I am very eager to try them in IL-2. Raiden looks to be very interesting; maybe not an easy plane to fly, but I am probably wrong about that. The Shoki seems to me as the most difficult plane to fly for Japanese. Maybe like the FW-190. I am terrible at using roll defensively, so those planes always get me shot down when I try to use them. The only way I am successful is if enemy does not see me zooming down to try to shoot him/her. Otherwise I like to dogfight because it is fun and doesn't take a lot of patience.

I am hoping to fly Shiden and Shiden-Kai in IL-2 very very much. My freind always liked Corsair and is very happy flying the many different versions. I hope to one day challenge him with my favorite plane http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

This comp is based on a screenshot that appeared on a Russian IL2 forum recently. SaQSoN, one of the most prominent modellers in the IL2 world, has said that there is a good chance that this plane (N1K2-J) will make it into the sim. I believe there is a cockpit being built for it as well. It would fill out the Japanese aircraft roster quite nicely...

the already in game AI N1K1-J is a beatifull model with a fantastic skin . it would be a waste of work if it would be not flyable in the future - but, that depends if there is a modeller who would make it................

Very nice picture of Shiden-Kai! I am very excited to fly it. My freind says it is not as good as Spitfire IXe, but I am thinking that it is, maybe even better.

Its more about getting the necessary resources. There are cockpit examples of the N1K-1 and the N1K-2J but no N1K-1J. There are large differences between them all.

Well...the Shiden Kai is probably better in a turn and has greater firepower but the Spitfire is much faster and probably climbs better. All things considered, the Spitfire IX was first seen in 1942 and remained essentially a better fighter (the key attributes of a fighter being speed and climb by 1944) from that point on.

The Shiden Kai appeared in late 1944 (about 2 and a half years later) and was not nearly as fast. It did have the advantage of being very well armed, very well protected (for a Japanese fighter), and not that much slower than its chief adversary (which was the Hellcat). The other great thing about this fighter, particularly the N1K-2J/Shiden Kai is that it was flown by the last of the best Japanese fighter pilots. It was a good plane in the right hands and I believe it made its mark...but it was far too late to count.

btw in "Gendas Blade" you can read that veterans are saying that the Shiden-Kai had NO rear armour protection for the pilot. only at the front

and it was a lethal enemy for the F6F . but P-47N , P-51D ore F4U were suporiour.
and it was a bad B-29 interceptor , because of low climbrate and that ite engine lost power abover 6000m rapidly !

Very interesting discussion! Doing websearch, I cannot find any climbrate data for the Shiden or Shiden Kai, so I have no idea how climb should be. Any good links to information about them? I profess my ignorance about real data on these planes and can only hope to learn more. Things like acceleration, climb (zoom and steady), turn rates (instant and sustained), top speeds at different altitudes, etc.

Watch out! If some of you guys complain about the Ki84 get ready for this one.The whining may be even greater.

I have flown the George through another Sim and I tell you its ducy of a plane. Its only real draw back is that a was a bit slow in comparison to other late war planes.

Other than that in the hand of a expierience pilot your chances of survival where slim unless you had the tactical advantage.

In a dog fight your best chance for victory is to be aggressive. Never Fight him below 10,000 feet and if you can not create a tactical advantage after a 5 minutes. Its time to desingage and head for home.

This is only a word of advise.

No! its not my favorite World two plane but its still a heck of a plane.

I hope and pray Oleg can deliver it to us. This would only make the merged game more realistic and complete.

I would to like see the Ki4311, the Sally and Ki27 plus the Typhoon and the Ju88 as well.

I don't know but the lines of the N1K2-J just don't appeal to me like the lines of the N1K1-J.

Yep,in regard of J2M3, hardly waiting to do some B&Zing with this Japanese version of K4, armed with 4 20mm. This thing climbs like Saturn V!

Oh a flyable N1K-2J in PF? What a wet dream. In good old CFS2, this was my favorite. I'd sell one of my nut to have this baby flyable! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Just kidding..

Assuming that one of the main reasons (beside time and money) is the lack of authorative cockpit references on the early Shiden.

The same goes for the early Raiden.

A couple more shots for of the N1K2-J... these ones look like they're taken in the game engine but I could be wrong.

I'm thinking the j2m will be comparable to the 1-185. Very nice little bird.
