View Full Version : I cannot believe this developer did this...

I have to say it, I am stunned that this developer had the courage to put back the release date so that this game could be as good as it can be. I'm similarly amazed that UbiSoft had the confidence to let them have the extra time they needed to create what even I'm confident (and I'm usually pretty cynical about these things) will be the best sub sim ever. I just wanted to say that, because usually game companies have neither the courage nor the confidence to fully develop or to fully support a product.

Kudos to everyone involved, and also to the player community who is willing to let them have the extra time they need. Usually players are impatient to say the least.

The release date was originally set at September 2004. It was put back after an overwhelming number of posters complained about the proposed campaign system. UBI and the Dev Team then took a poll about what kind of campaign we wanted, and then they announced that they would put back the release date, strip the code and rewrite it so we would have "a dynamic campaign like those in AOD or SHI", not scripted missions like those in SHII.

This all happened several months ago.

Oh well.. I'm the kind of guy who rarely spend much time with any sim or game. I will prob never touch a dynamic campaign in any game including SHIII, simply because I don't have that kind of time to spend gaming. For those days when I do have some time over I love tinkering around in editors creating experimental missions and tactical situations. I mostly do that in OPF (soon VBS1), SC from Sonalyst, IL-2 FB and PF and I reeeally hope devs include an editor with SHIII!

Cheers!

I think it's cool that you prefer editing and experimenting, Bratking. I know model railroad guys who never play with the trains, just spend all their time building models and scenery. Variety is what makes us interesting.
