After seeing a few posts from people unable to fly in my latest campaign which features the Finland map it appears that the Nvidia Forceware 61.77 drivers are the culprits.

Those that have had problems have upgraded to the 65.62 Beta (http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=847) drivers and the problems have all gone away.

Hope that helps... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

There is a problem with SP2 and older drivers (they don't work very well with DX9c, AFAIK.)

However, if you know how to install them (the old-fashioned way), I suggest using the 66.00 ForceWare-drivers. They are WAY faster than any other driver I ever tried for my nVidia.

I never had any proubloms with 61.77, until i stalled SP2. I think there was a jealosy issue. 61.77 was jealos of SP2, and so they did not get along.

Don't be afrade to try out the recommended driver '45.23'. I have had no proubloms with it so far.

I've been using the 66.00 betas for almost 2 weeks with very few issues (although I've been unable to do anything for the last 5 days due to NO POWER from Frances).

There's good info here: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=26

...I have the 61.77 drivers for my 5700Ultra FX and FB 2.04, and I run WinXP.

Everything is fine. Great even. But now that I hear there is a problem, you can rest assured that I will start experiencing trouble http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/88.gif

I've been having trouble ever since I installed the driver. I can no longer load the Finland map, keep getting an error message. The game constantly crashes to desktop or will just freeze. Problems I never had before.

Just got my 6800 GT OC last night and installed the "latest" drivers from Nvidia. WOW, I almost returned the card. Thanks for the info guys. Now I do realize that this card IS insane.

These aren't hardware issues, but rather driver related. I used the 61.76, 61.77, 62.20 betas and now the 66.00 betas. Of all of these, I'd suggest the 66.00 betas and setup the Coolbits2 registry alteration then disable fastwrites. After all that, defrag and reboot. It didn't solve all my problems, but did reduce them substantially (more than enough to play FB)

What kind of problems do you have with 66.00beta? I installed them a few days ago and so far, I'm really dazzled how much faster they are. I get 60-80 fps in LockOn, now! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

All settings standard. So far, I didn't have any problems at all, with my GF6800GT. Previous ForceWares didn't support my card and were slower than any standard driver. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

I've found 45.23 to give far the best game performance, newer drivers have always resulted in slightly jerkier game performance. It could be that my graphics card is an Old Ti 4600 but I'm not entirely sure. I've tried a GF 6800Ultra Pro (I could'nt beleive it but is was significantly inferior) and a 9800 XT superdupernutterboosted. This gave more consistant frame rates but gave a horrible shearing effect when head was panning around to track the target. Don't think this last effect is system related because this has happened on a couple of other PC's I've installed this game on with ATI cards. Anyway 45.23 by far the best driver.

Better to use the 65.73 WHQL drivers. Get them from; http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=854
