It's not vapor. It's smoke and residue from the tracer chemical.

The 'bush' aspect is in your own paradigm molded by what hollywood would have you think it was really like.

The truth is most of the aircraft-mounted cannons of the era had smoke trails that are modeled quite well in this sim. Not a fanboi, blind defense, just the truth.

I saw gun camera footage from a 109 in WWII and it looked very much like what we see in game from cannons.

The .50's, on the other hand, are off and could use some improvement.

Whats "verry bush" mean?

The trails on the tracers in the game are modeled after the actual tracer effects that came off of many types of tracers. Some had only a bit of smoke as a byproduct while others were seemingly more deliberate.

Check out for some gun camera footage from German fighters in particular. Some glorious smoketrails there.

Mostly, the limits to the smoke trails and traces seem to be to do with frame rates and computing power limits.

Its probably acceptable in terms of frame-rates and performance to generate smoke trails for 2 or 4 cannons firing at 600-750 rpm.

Its probably not so good for frame-rates to generate smoke trails for 6-12 machine guns firing anwhere from 650-1,200 rpm.

If you look at some of the rare B of B camera gun footage, you can see that even the comparatively light and small .303 trace bullets fired from Hurricanes and Spitfires left behind a distinct smoke trail. However, having a Hurricane I fire 8 machine guns at almost 1,200 rpm, with smoke for each 5th round would probably bring most machines to their knees.

Its a simple balance of what can be done realistically vs what can be achieved practially.

True, yet ppl still complain about .50 smoke trails. It'd hurt fps with a B-17/24 bomber formation of 8 planes with, what, 12 .50's each....
