Longtime Blues fan....

They did pretty darn good this year, even though they didn't make the playoffs. Another good couple of drafts (and they have loads of draft picks this year!) and I think they'll be back in the spring season.

We need a poll for the Stanley Cup teams!

My picks are Buffalo in the East and the Ducks in the West. Vancouver might make a good run if they can get some scoring (ya never know with a goalie like Luongo!)

I don't think Detroit will make it past the second round. They have a high-powered offense, but they're too soft up front for my liking. If Hasek has any trouble, that'll be it for the 'Wings.

However, the Stanley Cup Playoffs are THE BEST SPORTING EVENT year after year.

Yeah I was scared today when it looked like Markov slit Hasek's throat with his skate and Hasek didnt get up.

I think timing is going to be a very important factor in the west. If you look at how little separation there is among teams in terms of points says how close these playoffs have the potential to be early on. With all these injuries, depth both offensively and defensively is what's going to win the Stanley Cup again even more so because the team that can burn out last and best adapt their lines is the team that's going to make it, IMO.

And also, a big hooah to the Isles tonight. My second favorite team. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Hockey fans, eh?

Ol' heywooood hears ya - its playoff time baby, and Melrose has a ton of new hairproducts up top. Anyone here get the center ice package on cable? Hockey Night in Canada and the ol' Canadian pimpdaddy Don Cherry?

Ahhh the ice chips are flyin' and the blades are carving it up, passes are being snapped crossice and the biscuit is in the basket...

I was a goalie once, and a defenseman, and a center, and a right winger....injuries and deminishing eyesight has taken the game from me...but I can still see it on the tube whenever I have a minute. They'll never take the game from my blood - its in there pure and strong as day one my friend.
I hope they play the game in heaven - incase someone loses my paperwork and I accidentaly get in.

My Son, otherwise known as "Da Knucklehead" is a Preadators fan (don't ask me I've no idea where he got the idea from). Up until a few weeks ago he was layin' in the "tall cotton". Now he's whining about ending up in 4th and having to go on the road. Anybody looking to adopt a quazi good, hockey maddened 13 year old?

Long time Flyers fan. Season ticket holder in the '70's. Saw them hoist the Cup in '74. Saw the Canadiens hoist the Cup in '76. The Broad Street Bullies years were the greatest sports experience of my life.

Sadly, the all-time greatest Flyers player, Bobby Clarke, presided over their demise as a General Manager. This year's total collapse was the culmination of several years of mismanagement by Clarkie.

However, we have a solid core of tough, fast young players and we will be back stronger than ever.

For this year, I like Buffalo coming out of the East and Vancouver in the West. I really think it is the Sabres Cup this year.

I've watched hockey on TV a couple of times. Is it just me or is the puck actually invisible.. beating the recording framerates of the cameras?

I see someone smack a stick in to the ice, then here sirens and flashing lights. I don't get it! How do you follow the game?

You're all like Anakin.

If you know hockey, that won't be a problem. My advice to the novice fan is: Don't attempt to follow the puck, watch the action and reaction of the players. When you get into the flow of the game via watching the players, the puck will start to become obvious.

Things aren't looking too good for the Isles right now with DiPietro's concussion.
http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Dittos on watching the players instead of trying to see the puck. I remember when Fox tried the glowing puck trick to make it more noticeable on TV. When a hard shot was taken, it made a blur like it was a video game or something. Hopefully, those days will never return!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v460/goshikisen/stevie.jpg

As far as the Red Wings being too soft up front to go far in the Playoffs... I thought that was one of the reasons they took on Bertuzzi. He may be a controversial player but he certainly makes a "soft" team seem not so "soft".

I hope Hasek can stay healthy.

I still have some doubts about Big Bert. He just hasn't played enough this year to have me thinking he'll be in a groove for a playoff run. Past him, they don't have a lot of size. The one game I've seen him play in he didn't seem in the thick of things like he was previously in his career. Past him, though, the Wings are still a rather smallish team on the front end.

Another big question for the Wings - will Datsyuk's scoring dry up in the postseason like it has before?

I actually kinda like the game. but with me it's more like Baseball & Basketball. I just cant sit through an entire game of any of the three. Now i'll whatch football religously durring the fall. Well Alabama football. or i'll watch another SEC game. and pro football i compleatly despise. I really cant stand to many Pro sports period.

But here's an intersting foot note. And even i didn't even know this and you won't find a bigger Alabama fan than me. But the University of Alabama actually has a freaking Ice hockey team! lol. It never snows here. & the only ice you'll ever see is in your tea glass, a frosn mud puddle durring the winter maybe or in an indor skating rink. lol but none the less here they are: University of Alabama Ice Hockey (http://bamahockey.org/)

Gotta agree with Waldo on this one.

As much as I dislike the Canucks (bloody Sedin sisters) they are hot and if Luongo can take the playoff pressure they might go far. Though I figure Naslund will disappear as usual, as no doubt the Sedins will.

I'm a cruel fan, but anyway...

I support the Canadiens, but i certainly wish they wouldn't make it to the play off, or at least not too far http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Why: My favourite player in hockey is Saku Koivu. Naturally i want to see him play. I can't see NHL here in finland, so the only way i can see him is in the world championships!

But i win anyway, if canadiens do well i'll still be happy http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Leafs win 6-5 over Habs in regulation. Now Islanders have to lose on Sunday.

As said earlier, if Leafs had played like this all year, they'd be near the top instead of having only 1 foot in the door.

Ah, I'm used to their krapola. After 40 yr, it's "well, they're in" or "well, there's always next year".
