Not sure what controls would be used, but will there be a "head look" in GRAW2... where the actor turns only the head to look one way or the other without turning the entire body... like we all do in real life. Would be much quicker to look both ways in that way instead of turning the entire body with the weapon lined up.

Again, I don't know how that would be done.. maybe hold down ALT while then pressing A or D?

Nooooooooo, think of the old people for crying out loud. One of the reasons I turned down playing ArmA was because it had like 115 different buttons to play the game http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I am trying to figure out what are the benefits of doing that though, right now I can pretty much do so with the mouse? sure, the whole body turns but... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Interesting idea you got AJRobson.
I only see that it adds to the realism and nothin to the gameplay since its up to the user how fast you turn the body.

Honestly i like this concept... and it would be a splendid way to enable an FPV cover system!

also, if put in as a togglable thing or such, you could use those 3d headsets that support the mouse functions.

honestly the only reason i don't have one is cause no FPV supports such a function as you describe, and i don't play flight sims enough to warrant a 800+ dollar investment in something like that, when for 60 bucks and my old screen i can get the 3D depth effect on my normal monitor which doesn't move and supports higher resolutions than 800x600 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

I actually think there was a game a long time ago that kinda disappeared rather fast due to some badly bugged game play.
it was based off Jurassic park and used something similar to this.
It also actually drew the whole players body when in FPV (or what could be seen by a personal looking upon themselves without more than neck motion. but the claims others have made (didn't Grin do it to?) about being the "first" to make the body visible in FPV aren't true since this game predates Halo 2 (when this function became more popular))
And you had to outstretch your hand to pick things up (or clear the table, come to think of it, the game had a LOT of firsts it never got credit for)

i remember the demo ended with you running from a HUGE T-Rex, and to do it you had to climb some stacked crates or something and hop a gate with the infamous Jurassic park logo used in the movie over it.

Track IR 4 pro costs 115. Armed assault supports it. It does the look around thing and also the leaning.

and its just the headset mouse sort of thing isn't it?

hmm can't find the one i used to look at though, which also had the mouse tracker built into it.

i could've sworn that was an E-Dimensional product too.

I think what bothers me most about the current system where the entire body turns is that with the weapon view, the whole weapon also swings with the body.

If we had the means to turn the head to look either direction, then maybe they could slow down (just a bit) how fast the body can turn.... especially when prone.

What makes me think of this capability is how, in the IL2 series, it IS possible to look either direction when in the cockpit using whatever controls are mapped for that purpose, including the "hat switch" available on many flight sticks.

It would be so cool if a keyboard could be customized as desired to add such a switch.. like on the left end of the space bar. Of course that isn't technically possible right now.. but maybe someday in the future using nano technology (that would be wireless, of course.)

And with technology sorta like what is in the Wii, I can invision not all that far into the future wearing some sort of "virtual warfighter suit" on the upper body... and feet... to control a game.

they already have that!.. of course there is not feeling.
what happens in the game but basically you have a full suit you wear that senses movement of your legs, arms, and head and you have a helm with the video feed directly into your eyes and you are in a giant ball that is big enough for most movements.
laying prone is a little hard due to the cure bottom tho but it allows you to do rolls!
and basically in shooters you have a electronic gun and for a more realistic feel have one gun for every gun you have in the game and as expansions you can plug in new gun models for you bought and it will download it into the game! (not in the real ones.... yet?)

they are currently making them to be used for military training (not sure if any are in use yet tho)
