Just that.

How?

1. I have submitted twice to the Squadrons submission on the Pacific Fighters web page but have heard nothing back. I believe we meet all the criteria and we'd like to be listed.

2. How can we get our squadron markings available in the IL2 Arming screen - as a standard 'pick'.

3. How can we get #2 above in BoB when it comes out?

Any help out there would be welcome.

I'll try to answer your questions:

1.) The website has been known to be "rather dead" for a long, long time. Don't expect to be listed.
2.) There are two answers for this question:

a) For use in the Full Mission Builder, Offline and Coops the answer is "Not at all". The in-game list is reserved for historical units, but unfortunately development (= adding or reworking squadron listings) has ceased a long time ago.
b) For dogfight rooms you can add your squadron emblem, but unfortunately I do not have a how-to at hand nor did I find one on the fly. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
But be aware: This addition does not work offline or in cooperative missions - only on dogfight servers!

c) I think BoB will stay with Il-2's system of using historical squadrons only to the core (= useable in FMB, single missions and campaigns as well as Coops). The question which units will be added remains a mystery - as pretty much everything else about SoW : BoB. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif

Thanks Thor
1. I guess we could ask for a Sticky as a new list to add our squadrons to http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

2. I know about the skins and squad emblems. It was the 'historical' in-game selections I wondered about. (56 Squadron RAF is a Historical squadron.)

3. BoB:- again, 56 Squadron is a historical Squadron and took part in the BoB. It was also the first to fly the Typhoon.

I can only hope Oleg reads this.

Ask in the skinning forum some one may well do you some generic skins with the squadron crest on, then you could use the in game markings to vary them a bit........... or ask them to do different codes, I in the past when skinning did a few squad load of skins for believe it or not some squads http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif , unless its something badly mappped like the early Spits, changing the codes is a matter of typing the different ones straight on to the skin http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

You could also crteate noseart skins with the squadron markings on them. As for the page.... I dont know. It is an issue that has been on the boards for some time... and I cant even begin to tell you how or when it will be addressed.

Thor is right her. Sorry but your not going to get your Squads Regimentals in the arming screen for coops. As the CO of the 310th FS 58th Fg in IL-2 it was my personal mission to get that squad, ineed the intire 58th FG including the 210st MEAF into the arming list. but to no avail. Now you CAN male up the regimentals and use them online in DF servers as a group. as well as Fly squad Skins. in the 310th each pilot had a designated number which matched the squadrons historical aircraft numbers. (H-34 thru H-66) and all were painted to squadron regulations with the only eception being each pilots personal nose art. The best way we found to do that was to make one multi layerd template and save iot and just produce the skins from that one template.

and this is far more deatil than i wanted to get into.

Couple of points here Thor.
A.
There are quite a few NON historical units in the sims Regiments folder. While MOST are historical not all are. Example:
http://webpages.charter.net/leespace/Misic/Il-2/PCArena.bmp
http://webpages.charter.net/leespace/Misic/Il-2/Outlaws.bmp

Neither of those are historical squadrons yet they SHIPED WITH THE SIM. Which i found utterly rediculus. and while this is one of the most user customiseble games out there IMO....there are just some thigns we cant do.

B.
If anyone want's squadron regimentals done just send me the image, and i mean a good clean image, not pixilated beyond belief. I'll gladly make the regimentals for ANY Squadron. May take me a while as i'm very out of practice. but i'd be happy to do it.

Not every one knows but Mike "Dizz" Dean & i did an entire set of historical regimentals for PF. But Luthier dropped the ball on them, like just about everything else he's involved in, and they didn't get to Oleg for final aproval in time. When we finally got them to Oeg he liked them but then said he would use them "IF there was time" time was like 3-4 patches ago. so i dunno.

Here's some of the ones we did. I've had a hard drive crash since then and lost the full set. maybe Dizz has more but as you can see the quality of these images really stands out. It helps that Dizz is a PROFESSIONAL grafic artist and does this stuff for a living. lol My opart was simply to prep the images for the game and write the .txt files.

C. Not exactly accurate. From what i'm hearing this will (At last thank God in Heavan) be fully customizable. and your be abale to fly any squadrons regiments, or add any that you like. At least thats what i'm hopeing for. :-)

Again there was resaech done, a Lot of time spent on Maxwell AFB at the USAF Historical Research Agency. So much so that the Capt that ran the place knew me by 1st name. So the work was done, the quality was top notch. why they never got in is beyond my understanding.

Copperhead:

A) I was talking about the historical units, not the stuff available for the DF servers (and these fictional units used to hang out at the Combatsim or SimHQ boards when Oleg made the step into public all those years ago).

C) I've had this discussion with him and I am not sure that this particular part will indeed be "customizable". I am, indeed, not sure the sim will be as open and accessible as a lot of people think. I'll reserve judgement until I actually see it, but I think the historical unit pool will be an item of the non-accesible "core" of the sim.

My 20 cent ... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

As far as an update on the squadrons page ... I am working on trying to get some resolution once and for all.. Bear with me a bit longer. I will inform the forum with a sticky on the outcome.

Well lets look at it like this Thor.
Take for instance what happend with the 310th.
here you have a historical Squadron that was started in this sim long beofre it had the proper aircraft or theater of operations (PTO)
but eventually the sim catches up with the squadron. 1st we got the P-47's that fit the historical Squadron and then the theater. and still they are left out. and so are a lot of others, in piticular pacific fightetrs squadrons, both axis and alies. I have long been in favor of a major overhaul to the sims regimental system. IMO it was needed when AEP came out.
But IF SoW follows the projected path and starts with BoB and the the ETO/WTO and then the PTO that will leave a lot of squadrons out of the loop again. And for the sake of Non-Historical Squadrons in Competeative operaations such as online wars ect ect. they should be alowed tro have ther squadron regimentals on the arming screen. This needs to be customizable. Period. While i'm HUGE on historical accuracy....this is one place that i don't mind devaiting from history a bit.
Because i'm willing to bet not a single squadron here will just close up shop and switch to an RAF Squadron or an BoB relivent JG just to fit the sims historical theme or time line. and honestly as long as some of the online squadrons have been in this sim they shouldn't have too.

What doi ya think i Started the 310th flying? lol

P-39's in IL-2. Only American aircraft in the sim at that time. lol

But still there needs to be an open ended regimental system. IMO.
