Don't contact Grumman! Don't send an e-mail to your Senator! Don't contact "the Government"!

For the love of God, do you folks think that you're doing more than Ubi's Lawyers can?

Anyone who really knows what the issues are, please step forward and let the rest of us in on it. I don't want to hear your guess, or what you think or what you "heard on the internet from a guy with a cool username". Unless you're in a position to actually present the issue to somebody, don't do it! You think Sen. McCain is going to wade in and determine what's wrong?!?

Use your heads, please! Panic is not the answer, and trying to help is admirable, but you don't even know what the problem is!

Bump...

Yep. Let the guys who get paid to do these kind of things deal with the problem. If later they want people to sign a petition or contact a government official then that would be the time.

On a side note: this kind of stuff is becoming more common place. Electronic Arts just sign a deal with the National Football League to have exclusive rights to all NFL team logos which means other game companys are locked out from making a football game and using real NFL logos and names.
Welcome to the world of corporate greed...

Will be flying some more, tomorrow....
Will not be speculating....
Will be flying....
Will be flying....some more
Will be flying....some more .... some more

Am I to understand that you are blaming the community for anything that has gone wrong Ivan? I am as big a fan of this game as anyone, but that is pure BS! I feel for the probs you guys are having, but dont even think about passing the buck to us. Its not our fault at ALL! If the dam game was finished when it was released this could have been avoided. Go ahead and delete this if it makes u feel better, but dont start blaming the community for anything!

Idon´t get your point. Where did you get this one that Ivan has somehow accused community? This thing is starting to get more and more ridiculous.

Um, no i don`t blame community smat. You probably new here and not aware of leacked patches, releases and things that should not been said. This sim was hurt multiple times because when people got a little something, whether it was some info... or it was a patch... and they just couldn`t hold on to it. They had to share... and we all seen the results. That`s about it.

understood Ivan, I took it the wrong way. I thought you were talking about the current situation. Again, I luv this sim and 1c(ubi can drop off the face of the earth), just thought you were saying something else. My apoligies in full. Ive been around since the beginning(just recently had to re-register), I just dont post unless I feel it is needed.

I've tried to post this one in another thread but probably I was doing it while some Terrible here around was shooting it down... Just joking Ivan.. I think that you're doing a great job here, expecially during the various crisis seen here around.
anyway, the message was this one:

I'm with Chuck and IceFire... Please, don't do any move that could get any harm to Oleg... so, keep silent, take a big breath stay down and don't move! If' they can't see you. they can't shoot you http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
Talking seriously... I'm sure that if Oleg will need our help he'll be here asking for it... But now the best help that we can give is to do nothing because the only thing we know for sure is that there is something that involves some ariplanes...but we don't know anything more. I'm also quite sure that if Oleg says that is a thing that can't be treated in public it' true.
Remember that any reckless action based only on suppositions could generate a big damage so, even if you don't like it... don't do anything for now.

S!

First of all, I don't have a clue as to what this is all about.

From what I can gleen from the post on this forum, it sounds like a US aircraft manufacturer i has brought letigation against Ubisoft or Maddox 1c or both over Copyright infringments? Is that the crust of it?

If this be the case, writing the manufacturer or government officials won't solve a ****ed thing. Best to let it play out in the courts, and hope for the best.

I'd like to get more on this story. Who's got the source, anyway?

S! all,

I have not made a post yet regarding this mess and usually stay out of such gossip and here say but honestly I was thinking the same thing as chuck and just have to add to his thoughts, well said mate. So just to add the rest of my thoughts, if you involve the government then the media will get involved and if the left wing media gets going on this then you can kiss any future US plane developments by by because they will find some way of tying it into the whole violent video game thing which is now ongoing. And the ironic thing would then be that we(the community) would have no one but ourselves to blame.

An Ironic end indeed..."here we are, antibodies in are own (sim) universe fighting an invading germ. Really something, if that is are sole destiny." - Dr. McCoy

Steve, Love the pic and saved it to my best pictures(the first thing I did LOL).

Keep 'em flying mates

Glad this thread came up. I started to write a reply to Locust's call to arms earlier (post seems to have vanished), and I whole-heartily agree that its probably not a good idea to "spray and pray" emails to these companies. You may open up a can of angry hornets (tm) that way.

BTW, could someone model copyright lawyers in the FMB....they would make lovely ground targets.

"Left wing media"?

LOL..get a grip. It's 'right wing' capitalism that has brought this about in the first place - you reap what you sow.

It never even crossed my mind to whinge at Grumman - they're well within their rights to protect their property and most of those whining about it around here would have something to say if people made money out of one of their own creations, too.

Look on the bright side...if 'Focke-Wulf' were still around and ever decided to sue 1C for using one of their 'products', it wouldn't be difficult to prove that the one in the game was nothing like it's real life counterpart They'd just have to check out the cockpit (non) view http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

quote:
Grumman - they're well within their rights to protect their property

It isn't actually their property that is represnted , it is U.S. Government property .

Each fighter delivered and acepted into service imediatly ceased to be the property of the company that made it in every single sense {once the money was paid} .
Oleg has created virtual models of U.S. Government fighters etc , not of private nor public corporation fighters {some existed as test platforms and in some countries as factory defense , like the He-100s , but none are modeled in any Oleg Madox product I've seen} . Oleg modeled warbirds , not civilian aircraft ... the corporations involved have NO control over what Uncle Sam chooses to do with the U.S. Federal Governments' own property , even if it is allow Game designers to model them for profit !

Same goes for the military designations like P-38 , B-29 etc and names that were officially adopted by soverign nations for use by their military {such as Britain calling P-51s Mustangs as an official title ... Her Magesties' Government literally owns the rights to that name at least in referance to British service Mustangs and possibly others when all B.S. is pushed asside} . No corporation is allowed to force the U.S. armed forces to call their products by any given name once those products are accepted into service , and have no rights to the names/designations the Military chooses to use . {Lockheed actually try to claim military designations of their products as their proerty on their website "disclaimer" page including F-22 and Joint Strike Fighter as well as P-80 and P-38 Lightning -see article 7 on that page- , but if they tried to enforce it the U.S. Government would be well within its right to lay criminal charges against them , including for the purgery of making the claim/s under oath in court}
Where Oleg used U.S. Government designations such as F-6F and F4u , no one but Uncle Sam has any legal right to stop him .

The Only things those corporations have a case in is use of their corporate names {such as Grumman} , which are allowable to be used in certain cases without permission {CNN doesn't have to ask their permission to say "the aircraft involved was a Grumman Goose" even though they are technically making money off the advertising carried by the show it is mentioned in , no more than did the producers of Men in Black have to pay Ford for the use of the phrase "Ford P.O.S."} , names purely created by the corporations that were not taken up officially by the military and possibly any modeling of company owned units that are then used to generate profit {which would be tough to prove in reality given they would only likely be done by skinners on their own iniative who are not connected with the game beyond playing it} .

If the corporations threatening legal action actually succeeded in forcing damages or settlement over created likenesses of military craft use of military designations , that would create a dangerous precident of civilian corporations having control over Government use of equiptment ... a quite word by Olegs' legal council - ie professionals to the right Government bodies could serve things very well for the community in general .

The point of the title post and thread in general is good though : unless you are a professional , it would be too easy to cause more damage than good .
I'm tempted , but I won't unless by some bizare twist of fate I end up having a conversation with President Bush ;p
Logic dictates prudence .

Anyway, all this thread is too late!

I've yet sent an e-mail to Santa Claus on the matter!

He looked concerned in his answer:

"Dear Dux:

I'll do my best to solve the question. Actually Grumman is Rufus' manufacturer, and the owner of flying skid technology. BTW, you should do better at school, your grammar is poor for a 9-year-old.

And no, I can't enlarge your pen*s. Regards,
