I am taking a poll to see how many people would be interested in taking part in a large LAN Party to be held possibly on a WWII carrier. This would be like a 3 Day event with a private tour of the Carrier and maybe a lottery for a ride in a 109.

The event would be around this time next year.

All the proceeds would go to the non for profit organization.

I can't give anymore details at this time until I get a number of people.

Of course there will be sponsors and maybe some door prizes and also a prize for the winning squadron or team.

More details will be posted here.

All depends on where the carrier is..

If you view this please just post reply ya or nah. This way I can have at lease an idea of how many.

These things takes a lot of work and dedication to get running not to mention the cost.

Maybe my lack of knowledge of US geography is showing here... but how would you put a carrier in the middle of the US?

and I would absolutely say yes if I lived in the US :P

They had a carrier in Lake Michigan in WWII: it was a converted paddlewheeler coal-burning steamer.

That will be no problem at all, we will hire WarbirdsOfPrey map-makers, they put ships in the middle of large tracts of land on their "historical" servers all the time!

How far up the Mississippi river could a WWII fleet or escort carrier get, I wonder?
That's one BIG river.

Of course no one is required to play on any server, are they? Soooo if you don't like the
setup then why stay?
Oh yeah, if you're sick in the head then you can be a d1ck till you're kicked then whine later!

LOL Last time I looked. Charleston S.C. was located on the East coast.

The date would be in October of next year. We are working on the details now.

Toured the Yorktown this summer.
Excellent idea, but doubt I could make it that far again unless gas goes WAY down.

Interesting note, you can see Ft Sumter from the bow.

And they were both used for training carrier based pilots stationed at the Great Lakes Naval Air Station. They were never made for combat. About 15 years ago a group salvaged a Wildcat from the bottom of Lake Michigan and restored it to flying condidtion, I saw it at the EAA fly-in in Oshkosh in 1994. Beautiful. It was very well preserved, so much so that the military was required to get involved because the 4 .50 cal machine guns still worked after the plane wash salvaged.
