a) find 'em
b) kill 'em

Move the gunsight over, take lead, pull trigger(s). Dont lead ground targets.

What are you actually asking about in detail? People are willing to provide advice and help but not with such a open ended question. There are lots of guides that you can search for online as well.... real life tactics do apply and work wonders in IL2.

With ground targets come in at 1000-2000m, then go into a gentle dive at full throttle.. You get a lot of speed up, and you'll be in-out in no time. ... also do the same when defending against fighters, plus a bit of dodging.

Set your machine gun focus to 400m and your cannons to 300m. Use the MGs for cannon distance sighting. Rockets delay set for 8 secs, focus at 300m

Maybe the secret console cheat commands to kill selected target, kill all enemies and kill everyone?
Also the locations of the special powerups, first aid kits, extra ammo, fuel and hunter missiles?
Is that what you're asking for?

play and play and play some more. guageing distance is a big item to learn IMO. find out how a bogie looks in your gun sight and compare that to what convergence your using. i did some QMB's with icons on to guage diff. distances with the F4U sight. take screen shots and compare. just my 2 cents

Online? They don' exist. Online, this is one of the most difficult games ever, mate. And most rewarding, too. Join Joint-Ops to learn first to fly, and then to combat. Or join a good solid online squadron with a serious training program. You'll enjoy every minute.

Offline it isn't too difficult, because AI is predictable.

There are no instant kills in this sim... especially online.

Consider there are people who have been flying in this sim since the demo.. in 2001.. You want tips? Look in the Nugget's Guide and ask around here.. but the best tip for you is if you want to get better at this you will have to practice. There are no shortcuts.

Join an online squadron too.

Probably the best tip of all. Also:

Spend a lot of time just practicing flying before combat. Dividing your attention between flying and combat means you don't really learn either one well. That's how they do it IRL when they have a choice. When they don't, they lose a lot of new pilots.

Definitely get the squad experience too, it's another whole dimension. If you need to, switch squads until you find one that you feel good with and can grow in. You certainly don't want to shortcut that.

There is the PK, or pilot kill, which is about as close to an instant kill as you can get. If you are good enough in combat to pick out the cockpit of your opponent and hit it for a kill shot, then you would good enough to know you are better off aiming for parts of his aircraft that are much more vulnerable.

Anyway, you can always watch my vids on YouTube, which I have accompanied with much IL2 history, lore and B.S. and advice here:
