Hi all,

I just wanted to know if IL-1946 is worth to buy for me who owns FB/AEP/PF and who is not very much interested in jet planes and planes not used in reality in WWII.

Many thanks for any information.

All the best,

Michael the WildeSau

The "what if" scenario as far as the jets go for the 1946 part of the sim is a very small part of the total package of 4.05m, 4.06m & 4.07m. There are new flyable ac and several new maps that are awesome to fly campaigns & coops over. That alone makes it worth it imho.

Plus, the bonus is the ease of a re-installation as you can reinstall the entire sim with one disk. If you aren't interested in the jets that comes in the '46 what if scenario, just do like myself and many others here do, just don't fly them. There's plenty of new content to fly without those ac.

well, you are asking for new NorthAfrika maps
http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/26310365/m/1981072255

to use the new one that came with 4.08 patch, and the next one http://www.simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&...9&page=3#Post2142589 (http://www.simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=2142589&page=3#Post2142589) that will be in the 4.09 patch - to get the 46 DVD is a need.

Many thanks to both of you - JG53Frankyboy and -HH-Quazi.

I think you convinced me of buying it - above all if I can get an African map.

Many thanks again.

I'd say 'yes' as well. For much of the new content (even if the '46 jets don't float your boat) as well as the convenience of having a single DVD that includes the PE-2 and the Manchuria add-ons.

so:

1 disc (easy reinstall, convenient backup)
added flyables
added maps

Very worth it.......Even the NUMEROUS jet & jet/prop planes are a lot of fun, besides all the other great stuff.

I thought about buying the 1946 package, but I was also going to save up for a new computer, one that can handle the graphics. Since a new computer will most probably come with Windows Vista, will the disk even work, since it says Windows XP, 2000, etc. only?

My 1946 DVD works fine with Vista. However, I haven't been able to get some third party utilities like IL-2 MAT Manager, Swastika enabler or Uberquick Mission Generator to work.

I also get frequent CTDs but I believe it is because I'm using a notebook computer to play the game.
