View Full Version : A new FB/AEP script

BaldieJr

http://www.fighterjerks.com/AEPTools.zip

Unzip it, run it.

It strobes the naviation lights every 3 seconds. In AEP/FB, set navigation lights to ALT + L keys. To enable the strobe, just hit ALT + S. Hit it again to turn off the strobe.

CTRL + Y sends "Roger" over chat.
CTRL + N sends "Negative" over chat.

If you have a suggestion or problem, please post it here.

EDITED: I've updated the script to do more things. Please review the README file:

This is an early beta and therefore has a few bonus features http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Bonus feature #1:
If you try to type in chat while the strobe lights are on, the
script will goof up your chat window with extra keys. I'm
working on a solution. Untill the next version, please disable
the strobe before typing in the chat window.

Bonus feature #2:
The quick-launch feature only works when the programs are installed
in thier default locations. In the coming versions, this will be changed.

Bonus feature #3:
AEP_Tools MUST be in:
C:\AEPTools
Otherwise, it may act silly.

Bonus feature #3:
Sometimes the program causes your keyboard to act wierd. This bug
is very high on my list of things to fix, so look for a cure in
a future version.

Usage:
Start AEP_Tools
It will run in your system tray (next to your clock).
Right-click it to see the menu, which will allow you to start
many different programs. In order for these to work, the programs
must be installed in default locations.
Future versions will allow you to customize these and add
new programs.

Configuration:
In order for this to work, You must have the following keys setup in AEP/FB:

Select Engine 1: CTRL+1
Select Engine 2: CTRL+2
Etc etc etc
Select All Engines: CTRL+0

Bail out: CTRL+E

Chat: `

Nav Lights: ALT+l (lower-case "L")

Your new keys are:
ALT+S = Strobe nav lights
CTRL+Y = Chat "Roger"
CTRL+N = Chat "Negative"
ALT+I = Startup/stop two engines automaticly (great for P38)
ALT+E = Bail out and send "S!" to chat
Shift+F = Turn on/off FPS counter

Whats coming in future versions?
* Customizable functions. You'll be able to create new key-stroke combos
by clicking a few buttons.
* Splash screen will use random images.
* Customizable quick-launch menus! You'll be able to add any program to
the menu. This will be VERY powerfull and will allow you to launch
multiple applications at the same time.
* Auto-update. When a new version is released, AEP_Tools will update itself.
* Game matching! I know, we already have Ubi, HL, and a few others, but
AEP_Tools has the ability to do things that other game matching software
can't do.
* Multiple joystick sensitivities. You'll be able to tailor your stick
response to different airplanes, and enable those custom responses
whenever you feel like it.

I'm working on a single-key to start multiple engines right now. I should have it completed/tested tomorrow.

I'm also going to add a single key that bails out and says "S!".

Baldie or any script gurus... is it possible to auto run a script when a mission loads or a track plays?

Remember, those scripts are triggered once you hit a key, mouse button or joystick button. We don't have any message sent to the system when game starts, or when a track is played , etc.
If it would be like that , dynamic (really dynamic) campaign for IL2FB wouldn't be just a dream (random events, triggers etc).
So,basically you have only one option, map starting FB to a hot key and then run the script.Didn't tested that yet,but should work.
EDIT : as for the mission start or track plays , I really don't know.Mission starts when you click that button Fly,so is a mouse click, unless you want same script running for every mouse click ... you get the idea.

Not only with trim http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
What I find really useful is when I drop bombs. One click and all bombs would fall.Strobe stuff is also neat.I have to think to other stuffs.

The reason I was asking is that I discovered you can use the console to play specific music files rather than randomly selected (the music files have to be in the Samples folder and not in the Music sub-folders):

music PLAY FILE mytune

For campaign making it would be neat if you could associate this console command with specific tracks so that when your into track played it would play your music as well.

Hmmmmmmmm so Baldie... can you make a script that will load a specific stick setup with a few keystrokes? You know.. in the menu where the sliders are? That would be great. That way if say i was flying a FW and I wanted to tone down my stick on the roll axis for better control I could hit a few keystrokes and WALA!! Say one set of script to go to the controls section then like a profile 1,2 or 3 menu. Is this at all possible or am I dreaming again?

Bearcat:

It can read and write ini files, so this would be possible http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

All it woould require is that you determine your before and after values and a script could be written accordingly.

I can see this scripting ability generating a lot of interest, and help requests as a result!

BaldieJr posted his find yesterday in this thread:

Now you can program the **** out of any stick (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums?a=tpc&s=400102&f=23110283&m=374105315). You can download the app to create your own scripts from here.

Now wait for the 'how do I...' posts http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Glad you guys like it.

I'm going to make a general script first, and then make one for the X45, and maybe other sticks latter.

autohotkey can do crazy things, i just need ideas.

Bearcat,
I think I can do that. I was wanting to use the aux key to make 3 different sensitivity modes, but it will take some time. The trick to it will be having the in-game sliders set to max while altering the stick input before it reaches the game. It will be some time before I get to this part of the programing tho.

I'm going to add a HL/ teamspeak launcher tonight.

As for reading the current mission: I don't know if it can be done. I'll have to do some digging.

S!,
I'm no scripting guru or computer whiz, but couldn't this type of scripting cause trouble? I don't know if you're thinking of the same thing LS, but I can see the scripting becoming a Pandora's box. Imagine w/a single push trimming to max deflection in an instant. Could it be the Bat Wars all over again? I might be paranoid, but couldn't this type of scripting get out of hand, or are there some types of checks to prevent abuse?

No, you can't trim any faster with a script. The scripts just sends keys to the game. You can press a key faster than lightning and it will make no difference: FB/AEP will still deploy trim at its usual slow pace.

How about a script to link/unlink multi engine throttles to the rudder?

Useful for taxiing, flying/landing with damaged rudders and perhaps some fancy manuevers?
