I 've got a good friend in the UK who is trying to set up the ideal fig for playing this game.In effect he's starting at Ground zero...but of course he'd like something that will last & be adaptable well into the future( including joystick , TrackIR ,foot pedals etc.) now I have no idea what is available in the UK or what the best suppliers for same are...or for that matter which stores will custom make the best set-up for this friend, but I'm sure you guys out there do ,or can direct him to the right source ( or to FAQ perhaps) I've told him to start looking at this site to get him an idea of what he'll need to know once he gets started , but its sort of Chicken & egg,if you get me? So if you have any suggestions I'll copy them to him & set him merrily along his way.... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Tell your friend to go to www.airwarfare.com (http://www.airwarfare.com) and look at luckyboys guide and my guide to il2 optimisation -this should give him some idea of specifications.
In uk there is a mag called computer buyer get him to pick that up for a guide on prices.
web site http://www.comp-buyer.co.uk/

For cool hardware check out

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/

they build custom rigs- not cheap but good kit

MESH and Evesham have a good reputation for build quality if he wants mailorder

for sim hardware check out

Go to www.overclockers.co.uk (http://www.overclockers.co.uk) and buy the most expensive component from each category.

That should do nicely http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Buy the ch products fighterstick usb, pro pedals and throttle from here:

http://www.rcsimulations.com/

Look at www.anandtech.com (http://www.anandtech.com) for great reviews and comparisons.

Ok laugh if you want... I bought Dell best they had at the time (3 years old)and bar swopping the graphics card after 2 years it is still is running the game in perfect mode nice and smooth on and off line no probs. might be only a 2 gig with 1024 rambus on it, but I run Bright..the net with several pages open... Photoshop and PF in perfect mode when i am skinning and testing my skins all at once http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gifhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gifhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif and even that lot it still runs smooth http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif well unless i hit flack then it stutters a bit. but so would you. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Try them I am on my second from them and the third will come from them too..... Might cost a little more but for the back up warranty etc i would gladly pay it.......... they do do a gaming rig now too but have no first hand knowledge on that.... Oh and I am in the UK... I am not one of you colonies chappies http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
