Be real careful of this f*kka

Direct Access, a new feature on this driver version is a nasty piece of work for some CRT owners.
It is supposed to allow the adjusting of the monitor settings from the driver panel, without the need to use the monitor's controls.

It gets into the monitor onboard files and screws them up something fierce....sending the screen to black, and/ or worse.

Sony trinitron CPD E220 19""....81.85 has completely toasted it for use unless I can get the unit reflashed.
Even after completely rebuilding my desktop from BIOS up it has a very, very bright screen, that drops to near black after about 15 minutes.
Shutting down and turning the monitor off is only a temporary and shortlived fix
Various suggested fixes have worked to no avail.

CRT owners beware...it is not all, just some.

Te_Vigo, thanks for the heads-up. I've got an NEC CRT, though my brief use of 81.85's didn't give it any problems. In an unrelated note, one of my PCIe slots died (hardware, not driver related), so I'm gimping along on one video card until I can RMA the mobo. When I get both cards up and running, I'll keep an eye out for any monitor problems and report back if they occur. Great, another potential source of video problems. I was just thinking I didn't have enough of those.

np

in reading the Driver Manual, (gawd, who really needs to do this? and why the heck don't they include a lockout for noncompatible monitors??) the Direct Access feature is compatible with certain monitors only.

Thos being quite a few NEC LCD monitors and some Mitsubishi Diamond point CRT and LCD monitors.

These drivers work for me also, but now I am having problems with another UBI game. "Silent Hunter". These drivers dont work at all. Do I have to decide which game I enjoy the most and switch drivers. Come on Nvidia get on the ball.
