I am just wondering, why there aren't any Navy aircraft, and Navy missions? I am not talking about landing on carriers, although, that would be nice too. Is there any point to having say, a Grumman Wildcat, Corsair or Dauntless? Something in the lines of the old DOS game 1942 Pacific Air War. (Very good in it's day) OR, did I just miss something in somebodys downloads somewhere?

The game is set on the Russian front where the USN didn't operate.

And we have not had 3rd party builders for USN types.

The two Japanese types came from 3rd party builders.

P51 and B17 operations carried these types into Russia. At least 1 P47 was sent to Russia, and carried Red Stars.

Unless I've corrected it here

THeir are NAVY aircraft in Stumovik

Try the IL2-T a dedicated anti ship Sturmovik.
Also the MBR float plane

THeir are also many skins for Russian Navy aircraft.

As for the US Navy - well the Catalina is one that comes in navy colours.

Oh and BTW a Pacific version of il2 is due out at the end of the year!!!!! I think Luthier is doing it? or is it gibbage. You will have to but it as a new game though I think

Actually, there IS a Navy plane in the AI http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif It's a flying boat. Go look, it's like an adventure: Am I telling the truth? Can you be bothered to check? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

As for US Navy fighters, it would be interesting to have say, English Martletts (F4F) fighting Brewster B239s. An unlikely scenario, I know, but interesting.

Concerning the Eastern Front, where the USN didn't operate, we have some IJN aircraft as well...I didn't realise the IJN fought on the Eastern Front http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

That was because the game was released in Japan and I guess there was some want to represent Japanese planes in a limited fashion.

Well sure, that's OK with me, my point was that US Navy planes weren't totally anachronistic in FB since IJN planes are here. As far as I'm concerned we can have any plane in existence from the dawn of time (Icarus fans take note) to the end of WWII in FB.

Thanks guys! You know, I have had this game for so long, that I forgot it was about the Russian front. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif I have been flying a couple of player made "add-on" missions and campaigns lately and just fell into another "zone".
