I'm so happy two czech RAF fighter squads are now included in FB! I think Czechoslovaks, Polish and other nations played an important role in RAF. About 50% of them died in the war.

AFAIK they didn't use squad sign on their planes. They mostly used small czechoslovak sign under the canopy. You can see it for example here: http://312.jinak.cz/home/history/history2.html

Anyway thanks for all effort put into FB.

A very important Czech Eastern Front aircraft

Avia B-534 is a Czechoslovak biplane fighter. The first prototype flew in 1933. Above 500 planes were delivered to the Czechoslovak Air Force during years 1935 - 1939. In pre-WWII period it was the main Czechoslovak fighter.
The aircraft marked "G1" was in service at 2nd fighter group in Olomouc and its camouflage is typical of this era. I used this camouflage for my model.
After German occupation in 1939, all planes were taken by Luftwaffe. These planes were used in Germany as training machines.
Some Avia Bk-534 were used also for aircraft carrier landing tests. During WWII Avia was also used as the plane for troop/cargo glider towage on eastern front.
In summer 1939 Bulgaria bought 78 planes from Germany.
About 100 planes were used in "Slovak Air Arms", their planes also fought on eastern front against Russia.
During "Slovak National Uprising" in 1944 the remaining Slovak planes took the opposite side - against Germans. Then one Avia B-534 achieved the last confirmed shoot down by a biplane fighter in WWII - it's victim was Hungarian Ju52.
Avia B-534 was single seat single engine biplane with fixed tail wheel undercarriage. Its structure was all-metal, with partial surfaces covered with fabric. Avia was powered by engine Hispano Suiza HS 12 Ydrs with maximum power 625kW ( 860HP ).
Armament consisted of 4 guns with 7,92mm calibre. Under the lower wing was a place for 6x 10kg bombs or for 4x 20kg bombs.

I have contacted the author of the model and keep trying to get him to some to il2fb and make the avia

The model on the picture looks like it is too much low poly. I already started to build the Avia for FB and will post updates on Netwings forum in the next week. The fuselage is nearly complete now along with the tail section...just stay tuned.

And Ian knows czech language pretty well /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

You`re all fully right with what you said about czech & polish role in the BoB - for this reason I skinned some of No. 303 and No. 312 pilots planes. But this is not why I`m writing here - just today we started the same discussion about B-534 "pýtistovka" in our Slovak Air Force forum:

http://www.sci-tech.sk/svz/viewtopic.php?t=138

There are the same pictures as Leadspitter provided us here. It`s great addon for CFS2 made by Mr. Milan Lisner. You`ll find the website here:

http://web.quick.cz/milan.lisner/

We planned to contact him and to convert his model to FB standards. (The same like you, Leadspitter...) Sure, this old one has not so many polys as it actually could have and it would a lot of work to make this conversion right, but we all thought it would be worth of it. As Leadspitter wrote, this small agile fighter is quite important in our (Czechoslovak) history.

Erbriac - the only thing we can offer you now is some help with this work - cocpit or some LODs - just for the reason you have not enough time or something. Anyway, I can`t wait to see your WIP on Netwings.

The only thing I will need is some skinner (coz I really suck at 2D art) and some detailed photos of cockpit along with blueprints of the same. I got nice blueprints of the external which I started some half a year ago. But then I stopped working on it because seeing the numerous requests for new aircraft and no Avia request /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif And now I only revived it /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif I guess maybe 3 weeks from now I will have a complete LOD_0 done. And then we will see. But any help from you is appreciated and very probably be needed.

I really hope the Avia, the Falco, the IARs and other less known aircraft to be in FB. I think that's what gives this game its charisma: the posibility of seeing and using 'forgotten' stuff no other sim had even touched before. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

No historical map is available for Slovak National Uprising. Unless there was some fighting in the eastern part of Slovakia which is included on the Lvov map.

I only hope that those Polish RAF squadron emblems I made will also be included.
As for 1.2beta, the 303rd SQ emblem is horrible! WHO made it??? You could at least use the 111. Eskadra logo, and it would look better!

And a question to fellow Czech pilots here: how many RAF squadrons you had? I don't have the necessary data at hand right now, I'm sure you can enlight me. I hope that by the January add-on we'll have more RAF squadrons in FB, both British and foregin ones.

Oleg received data for 9 Polish squadrons from me: all fighter SQ that fought in Britain (there was also Skalski's Circus in North Africa, but I'll wait for the "Med" to make it). If we get some other British planes in FB (like Beaufighter or Lysander), I could also add bomber and support SQs from Polish RAF.

There were 3 Czech fighter squadrons in RAF (310th, 312th and 313th) and one bomber squadron (311th,originally Bomber Command, later transfered to Coastal Command). There was also a Czech flight in 68th Night Fighter Squadron.

And of course many Czechs flew in british squadrons. And in polish also - famous Josef Frantisek - 17 victories in 28 days during BoB - the most succesful fighter of this battle, IIRC http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Thank you, drapis - I knew only about the fighter squadrons, now I have my knowledge updated. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Who is responsible for adding some more? Ian Boys? Ian, can I ask you to remind Maddox team to include more Polish SQ in RAF service? We were quite numerous:

9 fighter squadrons:

302nd 'Poznanski' Fighter Squadron (code: WX, later QH)
303rd 'Kosciuszkowski' Fighter Squadron (code: RF, later PD)
306th 'Torunski' Fighter Squadron (code: UZ)
308th 'Krakowski' Fighter Squadron (code: ZF)
309th 'Czerwienski' Fighter Squadron (code: WC)
^^^---(ex Army Support Squadron, AC)
315th 'Deblinski' Fighter Squadron (code: PK)
316th 'Warszawski' Fighter Squadron (code: SZ)
317th 'Wilenski' Fighter Squadron (code: JH)
318th 'Gdanski' Fighter Squadron (code: LW)

*(I've already made these emblems and sent them to Oleg)

If we get Mediterranen/North Africa I'm going to add:
Polish Fighting Team (code: ZX)
(part of 145th SQ)

If we get British planes there are also:

4 bomber squadrons:
300th 'Mazowiecki' Bomber Squadron (code: BH)
301st 'Pomorski' Bomber Squadron (code: GR)
304th 'Slaski' Bomber Squadron (code: NZ, later QD)
305th 'Wielkopolski' Bomber Squadron (code: SM)

307th 'Lwowski' Night Fighter Squadron (code: EW)

663rd Artillery Support Squadron

/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

(source: J.B.Cynk "The Polish Air Force at War 1939-1945 - Official History", tome 2)

This makes total of 16 Polish squadrons in RAF service! Having just *one* in FB sounds like a big omission to me.

So Ian, could you please "push" those fighter sqadrons? They all used Hurricanes at some point of time, so it will be historically accurate to have them in FB now.
I can send you my emblem pack anytime.
