Hey, guys. I was browsing the internet when I came across mentions of the term animus relating to something outside the AC universe, so I quickly did a Wikipedia search and this is what I found:

Anima and Animus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anima_and_animus)

Long story short, in Jungian psychology the animus is the primary anthropomorphic archetype of one's collective unconscious, representing a woman's inner masculine personality (and vice versa for the anima), where "collective unconscious" refers to a cache of knowledge and experience all individuals possess that transcends the empirical and is, in fact, inherited. Sound familiar?

Now, we definitely know about the animus in the AC universe, but what about the anima? Well, look at the code in this video that was recently decrypted:
Desmond's Journey Trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjL8sDM32n8)
The code quotes Desmond's (subject 17's) anima as a data source.

That's the primary reason I think I might be on to something here...

Furthermore, the shadow - another archetype of the unconscious - represents repressed weaknesses, shortcomings, and instincts. I don't know about you, but I can sort of relate that to what Desmond will have to go through in the Black room.

Aaanyways, what are your thoughts on this?

animus is latin for spirit/soul/ghost/etc. therefore it's used for a number of scientific terms and names.

True, but I found this particular usage to be rather intriguing and vaguely relevant. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

It is quite interesting. However, finding something with the same name that vaguely resembles the idea of the Animus isn't really that hard.
