Well im asking because if we get together on hyperlobby and comms togehther we could have loads of fun vs everyone who thinks the p51s are easy meat...
Imagine a bunch of well flown p51s, communicating togehter... Maybe even time for a new p51 squad... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Some of you might remember my old P51 posts on this forum with videos and tips...
How big is the intrest?

I think this planes major (percieved) Achilles Heel in this game is it readiness to loose a wing with the slightest movement of the joystick at even moderate divespeeds.
All you have to remember is to only move the stick in one direction at a time .
I was feeling quite pleased in the last week when I chased down a fast diving (850kmh+) FW190 (A8/9?) and snook in behind his blind spot ...when he straightened out happy that he'd left me behind I set him alight with the 'porked' 50 cals !

At one time I flew P-51 almost exclusively...
However I tend to rotate between my fav fighters over time http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif .

Those that think that P-51's are easy meat... they do not have necessary experience http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif .

+1

I'd be interested in flying in a P51 squad of people, harassing the noobs who know nothing of what this plane can actually do.

I've just started flying online again after a long break. I need to get a weeks practise or so but I would be very interested should you get a squad together.

I'm a jack of all trades and can do well in a P-51. But then I don't really dogfight, esp. if externals are off. I'd still be curious if you get this going and how well it goes.

Great, now you'll have someone to talk to when you're running away. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/partyhat.gif

Never lost a wing like that... to gunfire, Yes, but never to speed, and I 'yank' all a/c around for TnB combats. The P51 shakes so nicely on the edge. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Actually playing with externals on I tend to seek out mustangs just because they're some of the hardest targets to shoot down IMO. Only easy kill mustangs are the basic players who fly them at 1000m. And hell, it can magically run away from anything and its guns kill my pilot with one short burst, so getting up higher and shooting something that feels so safe down feels great.

buddy, GMT -3 here. send me PM and we can fly. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/partyhat.gif

my war call is: Marcelo_Dragon

I'm crazy to fly in group, really call me when you want someone to fly with you. say the same for all the other pilot's here.

PS: http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/10.gif but I'm the most n00b pilot ever.

i love the P51 but its not the only thing i fly though.

the amazing thing is that it will outrun anything with piston engines and at the right speed it will also outturn anything.

just be careful with the stick movement at high diving speeds.
i usually use elevator trim to pull up when im going too fast.

nah , not easy meat ... just effete and girly like the Spitfire.

Far too pretty to take seriously.

Personally,I really enjoy the Mustang III, its one of the best P51's we have in game IMO, only drawback is that it doesn't have a bubble canopy, but it turns so nicely at 250km/h, and has amazing dive capabilities. Would love to join this "squad" if i flew it more and wasn't already with a squad ;D

I think so too , it's an amazing plane , probably the best among the mass produced piston fighters we have in Il-2 , along the 190 Dora .

It's the Allied plane i fly the most by far , love the design/looks and cockpit , beautiful plane to fly IMO
